It was a feast for the fans when Australia and New Zealand met in the first match of the Chappell-Hadlee series. This was the first occasion when the two sides met in a bilateral series after Covid-19 and produced a spectacle of a match. This is a short series and we expect the remaining matches to offer nothing short on action as well.
Up next in the tournament, the two sides are set to meet each other on 9th September 2022. Even though Australia won the opening game, both sides will be feeling fairly confident coming into this match. The match will be played at the same venue of Cazaly's Stadium, Cairns.
AUS vs NZ Team Previews
Australia
Although Australia ended up better at the end of the first match, they wouldn't be too happy with the performances they have put in in recent times. They were coming off a loss at the hands of Zimbabwe in their previous match but didn't really manage to make amends with the bat.
Chasing a rather modest total in the first match, Australian batting lineup was terrible barring Cameron Green. Had it not been for Green and Alex Carey, the Aussies might have even struggled to get to a three-digit score.
One department from which the Aussies would be pretty satisfied is their bowling. Almost all their bowlers have done exceptionally in recent times and will be raring to go for one more time. Team-wise, Australia have a decent side on paper and we do not expect them to make any changes, unless of course there are any injuries.
All in all, Australia have a pretty good side and if they are able to play to their potential, getting past them could prove to be incredibly difficult.

New Zealand
Just like the Aussies, New Zealand were far from their best in the opening contest. They would be gutted to lose that contest, especially coming from a position from where they would win more often than not. Despite Kane Williamson finding some form, the Kiwis will be searching for more.
On paper, New Zealand have an excellent batting unit with pretty much all bases covered. Their batsmen got starts in the last match and they will want that to be extended a lot more. Their bowling did bowl immaculately as they almost defended a total that was certainly under-par.
All in all, New Zealand have a pretty good side with all bases covered. If they are able to play to their potential here, getting past them could prove to be extremely difficult.
