AUSW vs ENGW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Feb 09, 2020

AUSW vs ENGW Match Prediction - Feb 09, 2020

A loss for India Women against England has set the equation straight. Another loss for India would mean that the final of the tr-series will be played between Australia and England. India are set to take on Australia on 8th February and a win here for India would keep the series open. The focus will then shift on the last league match of the series, the match which is to be played between Australia Women and England Women on 9th February at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne. If things do go till that match, not only will be the points important, but also the net run-rate of the two sides will come into the picture. The importance of the last league match depends upon the match that is to be played on 8th February. However, regardless of the result of that match, both the sides will want to register a win and finish the league stage of the tournament on a high.

Australia Women

Although Australia have performed brilliantly in the past two years in the shortest format of the game, Elysse Perry believes that they still have some wrinkles to iron out before ICC World T20. After a narrow loss to England, Australia bounced back brilliantly with a laborious win over Indian Women. In the upcoming matches, the Australian Women would want to build some momentum and also zero in on the right combination for the marquee ICC event.

Against India, their pace attack played flawless cricket and delivered superb results. Ellyse Perry and Tayla Vlaeminck ran through India's batting order as the duo picked up seven wickets between them at the expense of just 26 runs. While bowlers have done pretty well in recent matches, their batsmen have delivered a performance far from their best.

Against India, they struggled to chase down a total of 103 before Elysse Perry got them home with four wickets in hand. Prior to that, in their match against England, their top-order failed to get going and their middle-order was left with to much to do. They managed to tie the game only to lose it in the super over.

On paper, Australia have a pretty good lineup with talent and experience oozing right through. However, they have looked a little jittery in the recent matches and their upcoming match against India should give their top-order another match to get back into the thick of things. Australia are already a tough side to beat and would need some effort once the likes Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning are back into the form.

England Women

England Women are coming off a superb win over Indian Women and they have strong chances to qualify to the next round. With an embarrasing defeat against Indian Women, England Women got off to a rather poor start in the tournament but did well thereafter to get to the top of the table. They are currently placed at the top-spot with four points to their name and a net run-rate of 0.048, which, we believe, is going to be critical if India managed to beat Australia in the match that is to be played between those two sides.

After a superb bowling performance, England appeared messy throughout their chase, but somehow chased the total with four wickets in hand. Natalie Sciver was brilliant as he scored a match-winning 50 off 38 deliveries before getting dismissed. Just like Australia's, England's top-order, too, has struggled to score runs. Chasing a total of just 123, all England needed was a decent start to kill the chase. However, the likes of Danni Wyatt, Amy Jones, and Katherine were all dismissed in the powerplay as England's score after six overs read 39 for 3.

England's solid middle-order then came to their rescue as Natalie Sciver led the chase with contributions from Heather Knight and Fran Wilson helping her anchor the chase. England eventually won the match in 19th over with four wickets to spare.

Earlier with the ball, Anya Shrubsole was brilliant as she picked up Jemimah Rodriques and Harmanpreet Kaur to rock India back. Katherine Brunt and Anya Shrubsole together picked up five for 54 in their eight overs combined and played a key role in restricting India to a below-par total and consequently in England's win.

While England have improved with every passing match, they would need to be a lot sharper against the Australians. England's middle-order as well as their bowling has been brilliant so far and if their senior batsmen are able to join the party, the Aussies will have their work cut-out.

AUSW vs ENGW Betting Tips

Depeding upon the result of Australia - India game, this match could be a dead-rubber or the most important match of the series. Up until now, England and Australia have been the two best teams of the tournament and the match between them is likely to be a crunch contest. Performance-wise, both the sides have done equally and there's nothing to separate them. However, Australia have the advantage of playing at home and are a better-balanced side between the two, at least on paper. For those reasons, we think that betting on an Australian win is a better proposition for the upcoming contest.
