BAN vs AUS Match Prediction - Aug 09, 2021

Finally! Australia finally showed some fight against Bangladesh as they managed to claim the fourth T20I of the series, albeit by the barest of margins. Even though the series is already decided, this Australia's win has set up the last match beautifully. With ICC T20 World Cup just a couple of months ago, it will basically be one of the last few chances for the two sides to get their combinations right.

The fifth and final match of the series is to be played at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. The match is to be played on the evening of 9th August 2021. There has so far been a massive difference between how the two teams and fared and this match might be the one where this might be the match where that gets bridged. A cracker of a contest is certainly on the cards.

BAN vs AUS Team Previews

Bangladesh

Defending a total of 109 is almost an impossible task in the twenty-over format, but Bangladesh came remarkably close to pull that off in the last match. However, at the end of the match, the total scored by them turned out to be just a little less than the par score. Bangladesh have already won the series, but a win in this upcoming match will brim them with confidence going into the tournament.

Having achieved that the Tigers always wanted to do - beating Australia, Bangladesh's confidence will be at the top tier. With the performance Bangladesh have put in the series, everyone is bamboozled. Although their batsmen have done just enough, their bowlers have pretty much been brilliant. Mustfizur Rahman, in particular, has practically expended negligible runs in the series. Apart from him, almost all of their bowlers have bowled with an economyy rate seen unparalleled in recent T20 competitions.

Even though the batsmen have not done enough in the series, Bangladesh will be utterly disappointed by the way Soumya Sarkar has performed. He has a total of 12 runs in four matches and Bangladesh might want to try someone new with the series against New Zealand coming up next. On the bowling front, however, there's no change required to be made. It will be interesting to see if the management decides to try out some new players in the final T20I of the series.

Bangladesh have played the same lineup in all of the four matches played. There do not seem to be any injury concerns and we might see them field the same side unless of course, they decide to bring someone for Soumya Sarkar. On paper, Bangladesh have a pretty well-balanced side with immaculate balance lent from the presence of several all-rounders in Mahedi Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmudullah. They understand the conditions better than the Aussies and will be a tough side to beat in the upcoming contest as well.

Bangladesh Playing 11

Mohammad Naim Sheikh, Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Mahmudullah, Nurul Hasan, Afif Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed.

Australia

Not often do you see the Aussies reeling they are in the ongoing series against Bangladesh. Their batsmen have not fired at all and the inexperience is well and truly apparent. Australian management decided to give their youngsters a go in this series and they have largely been disappointed. A win in the fourth T20I would have imbibed some hope and they will want to convert that into results in the fifth and final match.

Australia do not have any more T20I series to be played post this one and the squad for the World Cup will be decided on the basis of the performance of this series. Considering that, the Aussie players still have a lot to play for. For them, Mitchell Marsh has been the stand-out player and perhaps the only batsman who has looked consistent. Dan Christian exhibited some fireworks in the previous match and that is one positive the visitors will be looking at.

Australia's recent form is nothing to be proud of and Justin Langer would know that. He would arguably have more questions now than he had before this tour began. When this series began, Matthew Wade was arguably the first choice wicket-keeper for the Aussies, but his performance in the last few matches isn't something that he himself would like to see.

On the bowling front, however, the Aussies have been brilliant in the series. The likes of Josh Hazlewood, Michael Swepson, and Mitchell Starc have all been good and will be raring to go. However, we expect Hazlewood to be rested in this game and that would be more of a logical decision than tactical. All in all, the Australians appear to be a bit too over-reliant on their bowling to do that. It worked in the previous match and it would be interesting to see if it does in the upcoming match.

Australia Playing 11

Matthew Wade, Ben McDermott, Mitchell Marsh, Moises Henriques, Alex Carey, AJ Turner, DT Christian, Ashton Agar, Nathan Ellis, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Swepson.

BAN vs AUS Betting Tips

Although the Aussies won the last match, they were made to fight hard even while chasing a rather modest total. In the series gone by, the Australians have done well with the ball but not as much with the bat. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have done a balanced job. Considering the combinations of the two sides and their form, Bangladesh certainly have an edge here. Besides, they are playing in familiar conditions, which is always a big advantage to have. For that as well as the other reasons mentioned above, we would be betting our money on a Bangladesh win and so should you.
