It’s the last day of the warm-up matches before the real action starts. Any match that involves India or Bangladesh is going to get a lot of attention thanks to a large and vocal fan base that they have around England. A match featuring both of these teams is going to be very well attended, even if it is just a warm-up game.
India lost its first warm-up match against New Zealand quite comprehensively while Bangladesh had to watch the rain ruin any chance of them getting some practice. This is the last chance that both the teams are going to have to fine-tune their playing elevens and so expect some urgency to be shown.
India and Bangladesh have developed a pretty intense rivalry over the last few years although that may not be reflected in the results. Bangladesh comes to the ICC World Cup 2019 with perhaps its most balanced side ever, so counting them out is going to be a big mistake.
Bangladesh has been playing in the United Kingdom for quite some time now as it was a part of the tri-series held in Ireland. That was the first multi-nation trophy that Bangladesh has won and they would be full of confidence going into this match.
The most remarkable thing about Bangladesh in that recently concluded tri-series was the consistency with which they played. Almost all the batsmen were scoring runs consistently and the bowlers were aware of the plans that they needed to execute.
Most of the Bangladeshi players have been playing together for quite some time now and there is no lack of experience in the playing eleven.
There is a fight for a few places in the Bangladeshi top-order. Tamim Iqbal is a certainty at the opening position but both Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das have legitimate claims to the other opening batsmen’s position.
Both Sarkar and Das have scored runs when they have got the chance so Bangladesh may use this match to give them an opportunity. Shakib Al Hasan has batted at three in recent times and voiced his preference to continue doing so in the cricket world cup 2019 as well.
With players such as Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, and Mosaddek Hossain in the side, there is plenty of batting firepower to call upon. The trio of Mahmudullah, Sabbir Rahman, and Mosaddek Hossain will be the power engine of the team and be responsible for striking the sixes at the end of the inning.
As impressive as the batting is, the bowling is not to be taken lightly either. Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mehidy Hasan are all sure to play. The presence of Shakib and a couple of other part-time bowlers means that Bangladesh can choose their last remaining batsman as per the conditions.
Abu Jayed or Rubel Hossain can be the third fast bowler or Mohammad Mithun could be the extra batsman in the side. There is a lot of flexibility to adapt to the conditions and that is a big plus.
Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Sabbir Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Mohammad Mithun, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mosaddek Hossain, Abu Jayed.
The defeat to Bangladesh in the 2007 cricket world cup left a very deep mark on the Indian cricket watching public and although it has been 12 years since that result, it is something that is going to be brought up for sure.
India has since had some close encounters with Bangladesh, a near-miraculous escape from defeat in the WorldT20 2016 has had a similar psychological effect on Bangladesh as well. The players from the two teams have clashed on the field and on social media leading this warm-up game to have more of an edge than usual.
No one batted an eye when India lost its warm-up to new Zealand but losing to Bangladesh is not something that is going to go down as easily.
Expect India to come into this match with a lot more seriousness. The batting lineup was tested by Trent Boult in the initial few overs when the ball moved a little. Cardiff has some extra pace and bounce which could trouble the batsmen similarly.
Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli are the best top-3 in this cricket world cup and their form will dictate how far India goes in this tournament. We have become used to seeing at least one or two out of these three score runs in most matches. They do the bulk of the work and take the pressure away from the number four position.
Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav were out with a niggle in the first match but they should be back for this game. India may play KL Rahul as the extra batsman but he is the back-up opener and not their first choice for the middle order.
India will breathe a huge sigh of relief if Shankar, Dhoni, and Jadhav can get some time in the middle.
India’s best four bowlers were clear up until a few months ago but Kuldeep Yadav’s horrendous IPL form has made things tricky. India has to choose between Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja at number 8. Having Jadeja in the team gives India a batting option lower down the order, a brilliant fielder, and a steady bowler. We think they may go that way unless Kuldeep Yadav does something spectacular in this match.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami are expected to start in India’s first match and so they should take the new ball followed by Hardik Pandya at first-change. India will ideally be hoping to control this match from the beginning and give all of its players a hit without piling on the pressure on their own players too much.
V Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, YS Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, JJ Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, V Shankar.
The team winning the toss is likely to want to bowl first to make the most of the help that the pitch may offer.

Bangladesh vs India ICC World Cup 2019 warm-up match is going to be played at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The weather forecast for Cardiff is quite good for match day and only a 10% chance of rain is currently predicted.
The pitch at Cardiff has some nice pace and bounce in it. The new ball bowlers will definitely be able to get some help from the surface after which the pitch should become excellent for batting.
Picking a Dream11 team for Bangladesh vs India World Cup 2019 warm-up match can be difficult. Teams are not really looking to win as much as wanting to give all their players some practice before the tournament begins. This means that players may not play in their usual spots and may not be allowed to maximize point scoring opportunities.
Wicketkeeper: We have picked Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das from the available players. India gave MS Dhoni rest in the previous match and even though we expect him to play this one, his experience is going to allow him to take this warm-up match easily. Liton Das, on the other hand, is fighting for his place in the playing eleven while Mushfiur Rahim just likes scoring runs against India, whatever be the format.
Batsmen: Among the batsmen available for this match, we have picked Shikhar Dhawan, Vijay Shankar, Tamim Iqbal, and Sabbir Rahman. These are not the choices we would have opted for in a 'real' match but some importance has to be given to the players which are likely to get an extended stay in the middle. Vijay Shankar is also playing for his place in the side and should get a chance to bowl as well. Sabbir Rahman is in a similar situation as Shankar. They are both likely to start in the playing eleven but have some good players breathing down their necks. Tamim Iqbal and Shikhar Dhawan are in good form and have a good chance of scoring runs while opening the batting.
All-rounders: Kedar Jadhav is classified as an all-rounder now which we found a bit funny bu it is what it is! He is our pick in this category alongside the highly accomplished Shakib Al Hasan. Both the players are expected to both bowl and bat in this match so that should give us some Dream 11 points.
Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah has been lethal with the new ball and we have picked him in our side, although, there is a slight chance that India may rest him completely from this game. Yuzvendra Chahal is sure to play and bowl as many overs as possible to get used to the conditions while Mustafizur Rahman is pretty certain to play for Bangladesh as well.
Captain and vice-captain: We have picked Shikhar Dhawan as captain and Yuzvendra Chahal as vice-captain for this warm-up match.
It is difficult to make predictions about warm-up games because teams don’t often care about the result and can be in experimentation mode. This is, however, a match that both teams would not like losing and so we can expect some urgency in the play.
We are expecting a high-scoring match between two strong teams but one where India eventually emerges the winner.
