Bangladesh has continued to boss this ODI tri-series in Ireland and heads into the final against the West Indies as the clear favorite. Bangladesh has defeated the West Indies twice already and doing so thrice will help it gain a lot of confidence ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019.
The West Indies will be disappointed at their performance in this series. Granted that they are missing a few of their key players selected in the squad for the cricket world cup 2019 but the bulk of their squad is here. People are actually referring to the West Indies as potential dark horses for the eventual title.
Bangladesh is not a lightweight cricketing nation anymore, however, it is still one that most of the top teams would expect to beat on most days.
Let’s examine if the West Indies can pull off something different in the final or will Bangladesh continue to walk all over them.
The last group match for Bangladesh was against Ireland and it could have been a tricky one. Not only were they playing against Ireland, a team that had nothing to lose, but they made some changes to their side as well.
Now, back against the West Indies, the Bangladesh team management has some tough decisions to make.
The first big question that has to be answered is about the opening slot. Soumya Sarkar has not done anything wrong in this series and appears to be the first-choice opening batsman. Liton Das, though, came in and smashed 76 in the previous match. Does Bangladesh give him a run in a match with a lot more at stake and see if he is up for the task or go back to Soumya Sarkar?
The next big question is about the bowling attack. Mustafizur Rahman was rested in the previous match as was Mehidy Hasan. Does Bangladesh want to bring back Mustafizur or allow his fragile body to rest and be at full fitness during the ICC World Cup 2019?
We think the answer is straightforward. Bangladesh is on a winning run and winning this series unbeaten is going to give it tremendous confidence. They should pick Soumya Sarkar and play the bowling attack it thinks is the best available.
The reason for Bangladesh’s success has been its batting, although, its bowling has been pretty decent as well. The conditions have been really flat and good for batting so keeping the opposition to around a score of 300 is an achievement.
As Bangladesh has shown, its batting has the capacity to chase down a bigger target of that is required as well. The only hiccup might occur if Bangladesh has to bat first in the final and set a target. Going too hard and aiming for too much could be the only downfall we anticipate.
Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mahmudullah, Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman.
The West Indian batting has done pretty well in the tri-series but there will be mounting concerns about its bowling attack. Most of the players missing from the West Indian squad are batsmen or all-rounders that will only marginally improve the bowling.
The attack that is playing in this series is the one that is going to go to England for the World Cup 2019. Being smashed around the park by Ireland and Bangladesh in almost all the matches cannot be the ideal preparation for this bowling attack.
The previous match that the West Indies played against Bangladesh was at the same venue as the final. The West Indies only managed to score 247 on an excellent batting pitch and even though their bowling attack was better than expected, there were never enough runs for them to win the match.
The best case scenario for the West Indies appears to be one where they bat second and let Bangladesh figure out how much is enough to beat them. Given the form of Shai Hope, Sunil Ambris, and the long batting lineup, this could be a tricky task.
A lot of the runs so far have been scored by the West Indian opening batsmen. Unfortunately, players like Darren Bravo, Jonathan Carter, and even Roston Chase have not lived up to expectations. Jason Holder made an important 63 in the previous match and we like the addition of Fabian Allen to the side but the middle order needs to start contributing as well.
Shai Hope has a brilliant record against Bangladesh and he is going to be the main threat in this match as well.
The bowling attack is going to be led by Holder himself. The side did not include Shannon Gabriel in the previous match, opting for Fabian Allen in the side instead. We are not sure if that is the direction that the team wants to go in or is dictated by the pitch conditions.
Either way, early wickets from Kemar Roach and Sheldon Cottrell are a must. The spinners are disciplined enough to be able to ratchet up the pressure but we are not sure if they are the best when it comes to picking up wickets in the middle overs.
SW Ambris, Shai Hope, Darren Bravo, Roston Chase, Jonathan Carter, Jason Holder, F Allen, Ashley Nurse, Kemar Roach, Raymon Reifer, Shannon Gabriel.
The team winning the toss is likely to want to bat second. Setting a total has been difficult at this venue and teams would like to know exactly what they need to do at the start of their inning.

Bangladesh vs West Indies, ODI Tri-Series Final is going to be played at the Village, Dublin. There is about a 20% chance of rain during the first half of the day but that goes down as the evening approaches. We can be reasonably hopeful of getting a full day of cricket in for the final.
The pitch at the Village has been flat and good for batting. The outfield is quick and the boundaries pretty short as well. We have no doubt that this is going to be a high-scoring match.
A score of about 300 can be considered par.
Dream 11 team for Bangladesh vs West Indies Ireland tri-series final is an interesting task. There are a number of players on both sides that pick themselves on the basis of past performances. We believe that its a couple of players flying under the radar up until now that could make all the difference.
Wicketkeeper: Shai Hope and Mushfiqur Rahim both being available in this category makes this a tough decision. Hope has an excellent record against Bangladesh and has been in brilliant form. Rahim is also in good touch and seems to perform well in high-pressure matches off late also. We have picked Hope because of his slot as opening batsman and his past record against Bangladesh.
Batsmen: Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Darren Bravo, Sunil Ambris, and Roston Chase are the five batsmen we have picked in our side. This gives us all the opening batsmen in both sides and most of the top-order as well. Darren Bravo is our pick for the West Indian player to watch out for. He has not been in good form and has made very little contribution to the side but he is just too good a player to keep on failing. Tamim Iqbal is the best Bangladeshi batsman by a distance and is a must in any Dream 11 team selection. Soumya Sarkar is also expected to take back his slot from Liton Das and the pressure will be on him to score runs. Sunil Ambris is in good form and we have picked him even though we don't think he is a player that has 'class'. Roston Chase is slotted as a batsman but could roll his arm over as well providing more opportunities to pick up points.
All-rounders: There is a doubt on the availability of Shakib Al Hasan for this match and that is why we have not picked him. If he is in the playing eleven, though, then make sure you have him in your Dream 11 team by substituting another player. Currently, we have picked Jason Holder from this category.
Bowlers: We have selected the in-form Abu Jayed, Mustafizur Rahman, Kemar Roach, Fabien Allen in our side. Jayed and Rahman have been in the wickets so they are easy picks. Kemar Roach is another player that is struggling a bit but we think he can turn things around in this match. Fabien Allen is a decent bowler and a handy batsman which increases his opportunities to earn points for the Dream 11 team.
Captain and Vice-Captain: We have picked Tamim Iqbal and Jason Holder as captain and vice-captain respectively.

Bangladesh has shown immense maturity in this series and been remarkably consistent. We think they have figured out a nice team balance and should be able to win this match as well. Their batting superiority and confidence in the bowling attack should be the difference between the two sides.
Bet on Bangladesh to win.
