West Indies is traveling with a very young squad for the ODI’s against Bangladesh and it is no surprise they the team was rolled over for just 122 in the first match. The conditions are in favor of Bangladesh and they are also boosted by the return of their best player, Shakib Al Hasan.
The second ODI between the West Indies and Bangladesh is a must-win for the visitors. If they lose this match, they also lose the series. Bangladesh must be aiming for a 3-0 result and anything less would be considered a failure.
After an impressive showing in CWC 2019, Bangladesh would want to build towards the next edition for an even better result.
Bangladesh vs West Indies 2nd ODI 2021 is going to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on the 22nd of January 2021.
Complete domination. That is the only way to describe the performance of Bangladesh in the first ODI. Not only did it bowl very well but it also batted with freedom while chasing down a small total.
We don’t think there is any need for it to change anything heading into the second ODI.
The conditions are low, slow, and offering a lot of spin. This is exactly what the Bangladeshi bowlers thrive on. Mustafizur Rahman seemed to be at his best while Shakib was just unplayable.
Mehedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan were the only spinners and it would not surprise us to see one more being picked for this match. Rubel Hossain was a bit expensive but Hasan Mahmud was very impressive in his first match.
Mahmud bowled wicket to wicket and picked up three wickets.
The batting for Bangladesh is pretty well-settled. Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahman, Mahmudullah, and Soumya Sarkar are all very experienced and should be able to take advantage of a weak West Indian bowling lineup.
Liton Das, Tamim Iqbal, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman.
This is going to be a tough tour for the West Indies. They are playing in conditions that they are not necessarily the most comfortable in and do not have much experience of traveling to Bangladesh in the past either.
This is a good tour to check out the depth of the West Indian batting. We think there is some clear talent including most who have done well in the CPL but a lot more application is needed.
Players need to adopt a more circumspect approach and play the full 50 overs.
Sunil Amris, Jason Mohammed, Kyle Mayers, Nkrumah Bonner, and Rovman Powell are very talented players. They need to find a way to rotate the ball against the spinners and then attack the faster bowlers.
The bowlers did not have much to defend in the previous match but Alzarri Joseph bowled well (including three maidens), Akeal Hossain picked up three wickets, and Jason Mohammaed was very economical as well.
The West Indians must look to strengthen their spin bowling for this match because that is the only way they are going to be able to succeed in Bangladesh.
Sunil Ambris, Joshua De Silva, Andre McCarthy, Jason Mohammed, Kyle Mayers, NE Bonner, Rovman Powell, Raymon Reifer, Alzarri Joseph, Akeal Hosein, Kjorn Ottley.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to bat first. The track is slow and bating is going to get more difficult as the match progresses.

The conditions in Dhaka are a bit mixed. There is some rain forecast for the match but that will hopefully not dent the match too much. The pitch is slow and took a lot of spin in the first match. This is only going to get more pronounced in the second match.
We expect run-scoring to be more difficult and another low-scoring match to be played out. Anything around 220 is going to be pretty tough to chase down.
The manner in which Bangladesh dominated the first match makes it the clear favorite heading into this next match as well. We see a lot of talent in the West Indies team but it looks unlikely that the team will be able to turn things around and win.
Bet on Bangladesh to win.
