Zimbabwe’s tour of Bangladesh 2020 is about to kick off with the only test match set to begin. It is an indictment of both sides that the result is far from guaranteed and literally anything could happen. Bangladesh has lost to Afghanistan and is in the middle of an extended losing streak that was brought to attention by the Zimbabwe coach.
Zimbabwe, on the other hand, has been hampered by political and economic problems at home, which have stagnated the growth of the side. Both teams have some promising players to look at and some clear weaknesses to hide.
Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe Test Match 2020 is going to be played at the Shere Bangla Stadium, Dhaka beginning on the 22nd of February 2020.
There is a lot being made about Bangladesh’s losing streak in test cricket but we think that is just some psychological tactics being employed by Zimbabwe. Bangladesh has lost its previous five test matches but two of them were away in New Zealand, one away in India, and one at home against Afghanistan.
Not a single match out of those apart from the one against Afghanistan was an unexpected result.
It does not help when your own board president berates you and exhibits no confidence in public but that is what Bangladesh must live with.
Mominul Haque will lead the side and be a part of the senior batting group. Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das, and Mohammad Mithun are all expected to feature in the playing eleven as well. The conditions in Bangladesh have varied quite a bit for test cricket.
The groundsman either prepares a surface which is a spin-friendly minefield or leaves it completely flat and in favor of the batsmen. It remains to be seen what we are served up with but the Bangladeshi batsmen should be confident of scoring runs whatever is dished out.
Taijul Islam, Mahidy Hasan, Mustafizur Rahman, and Abu Jayed, and maybe Ebadat Hossain are all in the mix to play this first test. There is a good mix of spin-bowlers and pacers to choose from depending on the surface.
Bangladesh is a very unpredictable side and consistently underperforms in Test match cricket. The presence of most its senior players for this match, though, should help calm some nerves down.
Tamim Iqbal, Saif Hassan, Nazmul Hossain, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das, Taijul Islam, Abu Jayed, Ebadat Hossain, Nayeem Hasan.
Zimbabwe is not a team to be taken lightly. It may be in a rebuilding stage and be filled with people that are inexperienced but it also has a strong core of senior players that make it competitive in almost all conditions.
Zimbabwe pushed Sri Lanka to the brink just a few weeks ago and would have gained a lot of confidence from that performance. They have also done well against Bangladesh traditionally and will not be overawed by the conditions in the least.
Craig Ervine, Sikandar Raza, Brendan Taylor, and Chris Mpofu are the senior cricketers that Zimbabwe will look at during this match. Ervine, Taylor, and Raza will play a huge role in the batting department while Raza and Mpofu will be among the leading bowlers as well.
Craig Ervine, Brendan Taylor, and Sikandar Raza all play spin pretty well, which is a prerequisite to do well in Bangladesh. Some other promising batsmen in the squad such as Regis Chakabva and Tinotenda Mutombodzi could also prove to be a pain for the Bangladeshi bowlers.
Zimbabwe struggles to pick up 20 wickets even if it does manage to get enough runs with the bat and this is something that is going to be a problem in this match as well. We really think Zimbabwe would prefer a raging turner to a flat pitch since that will make its bowlers more effective.
The fast-bowlers are military medium at best and the Sikandar Raza is the leading spinner in the squad.
Not a bowling attack which inspires too much confidence.
Prince Masvaure, Kevin Kasuza, Craig Ervine, Brandon Taylor, Sikandar Raza, R Chakabva, T Maruma, Ainsley Ndlovu, Victor Nyauchi, Donald Tiripano, Charlton Tshuma.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first. Winning the toss should be seen as a significant advantage.

There is a bit of rain expected on the fourth day of the test match but we should be fine for the most part. The pitch is going to be revealed on the day of the toss and we are expecting to see a flat batting pitch that will make life hard for the bowlers.
Bangladesh is going to be wary of losing and so would like to see a surface which makes batting collapses rare, even if it is going to increase the workload of its own bowlers as well.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe test match 2020
Bangladesh may have lost to Afghanistan at home but it won two test marches against the West Indies prior to that. We also think the return of senior players like Mushfiqur Rahim will help it break the losing streak. A draw might also be a good option to hedge your bets but take that decision after seeing the pitch on match day.
Bet on Bangladesh to win.
