About the Match
The Bulls stand in the fifth position with 6 points after losing the match against Titans recently; they will go up against Vikings, who are placed 4th with the same number of points separated by Net Run Rate, at Chittagong on 22nd November. The Vikings registered their second win of the season by defeating Raj Kings on Friday and another win tonight against Comilla Victorians; they will be determined to continue with their winning momentum and make it to the top four. The Bulls on the other hand, have been on a slippery slope, and need a victory here to course correct and move up the rankings. When the two teams met previously, the Bulls had emerged victorious; it needs to be seen if they can repeat the match-winning performance yet again.
Chasing 152 against Titans, the batsmen fell short in building steady partnerships and despite 35 runs scored by Mushfiqur Rahim and good contributions by Shahriar Nafees and Mendis, they crumbled under pressure and lost the match by 22 runs. Spinner Taijul Islam registered a superb 3-18 while Rumman Raees,Emrit and Perera provided regular wickets to restrict the opposition to 151; however, the batting effort wasn’t enough to win the match.
Against Riders, Taijul Islam and Perera did very well to take 2 scalps each but others like Al-Amin Hossain, Abu Hider and Kamrul Rabbi proved to be too expensive, leading to a stiff target of 176 for the batsmen. Mendis and middle-order batsman Nadif Chowdhury played useful knocks, scoring 57 and 41 runs respectively; but the others like Rahim, Munaweera, Nafees and Emrit down the line, couldn’t impress much leading to a loss by 12 runs.
When they defeated Vikings the last time around, Dawid Malan and Shahriar Nafees had stuck their feet firmly on the ground to post a brilliant 150-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to chase down 164 with ease. They do have the resources to outwit the opponents again and bounce back.
Against the Bulls, the batsmen had done well to post a competitive total of 163, thanks to a brilliant 75 by Tamim Iqbal and others like Jahurul Islam and Anamul Haque contributing well. However, the bowlers had been out of sorts and they couldn’t stop Malan from hitting the winning runs.
In the match against Raj Kings, Mohammad Nabi proved his mettle with the bat, scoring a scintillating 87 off just 37 balls to take the total to 190. Anamul Haque and Dwayne Smith contributed well with 50 and 34 runs respectively and the bowlers, led by speedster Taskin Ahmed’s 5-31 demolished the Kings to win the match by 19 runs comfortably. Mohammad Nabi was instumental in their most recent win as well. He slammed 46 off 24 deliveries against Comilla Victorians with good support coming from Shoaib Malik.
Nabi, Taskin Ahmed, Imran Khan and Subashis Roy are in good form with the ball, and can post a stiff challenge to the Bulls here. Against Dynamites, the top and middle-order had collapsed while chasing a meagre 149 runs; they will try to be cautious against the Bulls on Tuesday, and try to avenge their previous defeat.
While the Titans batsmen haven’t yet built a challenging total batting first, they have successfully defended totals thanks to a superb bowling effort; the Bulls, on the other hand, suffered a loss recently and might be down on morale. The result could swing either way but we feel that the Titans with their winning attitude are clear favourites to win the match on Sunday
