About the Match
The Bulls continued their losing streak, this time suffering defeat against Victorians by 8 wickets; they are placed at the bottom of the table with just 6 points after 10 games and will try to bounce back when they meet Raj Kings on 1st December at Dhaka. The Kings have climbed to the 4th spot with 10 points after 10 games, and recently won against Riders by 49 runs; their morale is high at the moment and would be eager to continue their way forward to the top four. The contest could see some fireworks between the two sides, who will try to put their best foot forward on Thursday.
Batting first against Victorians, they were able to muster only 142 runs; Mendis and Mushfiqur Rahim tried to revive the innings but they could score only 20+ runs each. Enamul Haque scored 20 but it wasn’t enough to get to a strong total. The bowlers proved to be expensive yet again with players like Kamrul Rabbi and Rumman Raees giving away easy runs. All-rounders Malan and Enamul Haque stifled the opposition but they couldn’t stop the Victorians from scoring the winning runs.
Against Dynamites too, the batting line-up put up a lacklustre show and scored only 132 runs; Rahim posted a well-made 36 while Chowdhury scored 21 runs but others like Nafees, Munaweera and Mendis failed to impress. Spinner Taijul Islam provided 2 quick breakthroughs while Enamul Haque and Kamrul Rabbi claimed a wicket each but they lost the match by 4 wickets.
When they met Raj Kings earlier, the batsmen had done well to post a gigantic 192 batting first which bowlers like Al-Amin Hossain, Abu Hider and Emrit had defended easily. They will need to pull up their socks and come out with all their firepower here to make a comeback.
Defending a low total of 124 runs proved to be an uphill climb for the bowlers against Victorians and they lost the match by 8 wickets; earlier, the batsmen were demolished by the pace and spin combination of the defending champions with players like Sabbir Rahman, Samit Patel and mehedi Hasan falling for single digits. Franklin fought a lone battle by posting an unbeaten 44 but they ould muster only 124 runs.
In the previous match against Riders too, the batting line-up had put up a dismal show, posting only 128 runs which came majorly from the bat of lower order batsmen Mehedi Hasan and Farhad Reza, who scored 40+ runs each. However, the bowlers put up a stupendous performance as spinners Nazmul Hasan took 3-8 in 4 overs and Mehedi Hasan claimed 2-12 while speedster Abul Hasan stifled the opposition with 3-11, helping them win the match by a thumping 49 runs.
They have done well to climb up the ladder thanks to a consistently good performance in recent outings; they had lost the match against Bulls previously, being unable to chase a stiff target of 192 despite a superb 122 off 61 by Sabbir Rahman but will try to avenge that defeat here.
The Bulls are on a slippery slope having lost their last 6 matches and are desperate for a win here; although they could give a tough fight, we feel that the Kings who are on a winning roll are better placed to emerge victorious this time around.
