About the Match
Raj Kings defeated Dynamites by 6 wickets in the last game and are positioned third with 2 points on the table; they will take on Barisal Bulls, who also have 2 points after defeating Victorians and are placed 6th, on 13th November at Dhaka for the 10th match of the series. While the Kings chased down 139 against Dynamites after a good show by the middle order, the Bulls won the match against Victorians by chasing down 130 with 9 balls to spare. Having tasted success, both teams will fight hard to continue with the winning momentum on Sunday.
Mushfiqur Rahim and Thisara Perera scored 30 odd runs each to steer the team across the finish line; with help from Dawid Malan, who scored 26 runs, and a good performance by openers Munaweera and Shamsur Rahman, the Bulls won the match by 6 wickets in the 19th over. Earlier, fast bowlers Abu Hider, Al-Amin Hossain, Rayad Emrit and Perera provided regular breakthroughs to stifle the opponents while spinner Taijul Islam dealt the initial blow by dismissing Imrul Kayes in the first over.
In the earlier match against Dynamites, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shahriar Nafees posted half-centuries to take the total to 148 batting first; however, an indisciplined bowling performance by the team led to the opponents winning the match by 8 wickets.
The batting line-up is strong with experienced players like Rahim, Perera, and Imrul Kayes while middle-order batsmen like Nafees, Malan and others down the line can keep the runs flowing to provide a solid foundation. The recent win would surely have boosted their morale and the Bulls can prove to be a tough challenge on Sunday.
Chasing 139 against Dynamites, Sabbir Rahman, Umar Akmal and Samit Patel kept the scoreboard ticking with their batting skills; while Rahman and Akmal scored 31 and 27 runs respectively, Patel remained unbeaten at 44 from 25 deliveries to steer the team across the finish line with ease. Earlier, Patel had displayed his bowling skills too taking 2-20 while Mehedi Hasan finished with 2-22; Abul Hasan continued with his wicket-taking form as he dismissed Bopara to restrict the opponents.
Against the Titans, the batting line-up had come close to chasing down 134 runs thanks to Mominul Haque’s 64 and 31 runs scored by Sammy; however, the others couldn’t contribute well and they lost the match by a painful 3 runs. Fast-bowler Abul Hasan had dished out a special 5-28 to contain the opposition to 133 runs but the batsmen failed to take the team home safely.
They are a well-knit unit with in-form bowlers and talented batsmen like Rahman, Akmal and Mominul Haque, who can get the big runs when needed. With all-rounders like Sammy, Patel and others, the Kings can try to outwit the Bulls here.
Both teams have won their last match and this will keep them motivated to try and repeat the winning performance on Sunday; while the contest could go down to the wire, we feel that Bulls with their excellent bowling attack are better placed to emerge as the better side
