About the Match
Barisal Bulls are sitting pretty at the second spot in the points table with three wins on the trot whereas the Rangpur riders are 4th of the list with 4 points having played a game less. The two teams will face each other on November 17 at the new venue, Chittagong. Both the teams have done pretty well leading up to this clash and will love to continue the same for the Chittagong leg of BPL. The Chittagong pitch is expected to be quicker than that of Dhaka and run-scoring might be easier. Both the teams have excellent amalgamation of domestic and overseas players and will be looking to climb the table.
The Bulls have looked pretty fluent in the competition thus far. In their previous game, they chased down the target of 164 runs with considerable ease. Dawid Malan scored a swashbuckling fifty who was supported well by measured innings of Shahriar Nafees who too notched up yet another fifty in the tournament.
Unbeaten 78 off 48 balls from Dawid Malan and 59 ball 65 from Shahriar Nafees helped Barisal Bulls chase down the score with five balls to spare against Chittagong Vikings. The pair added 150 runs for the second wicket to ease a chase that looked tense at one stage. Mushfiqur Rahim too has contributed brilliantly whenever he has batted.
Asked to bowl first, Bulls were not able to take any wickets till 13th over. However, fine bowling in the last few overs from Abu Hider and Al Amin helped them to restrict the opposition to a negotiable total. Overall, Bulls are riding high on momentum and it will be tough for any team to stop their winning caravan.
In their last match against Dhaka Dynamites, Riders had been mauled in all aspects of the game. Winning the toss was the only thing that went the Riders' way. They conceded 170 runs on a pitch that wasn’t particularly easy to bat on and it always was an uphill task for them since then. Their openers didn't give them the start they wanted; furthermore, they were losing wickets at regular intervals which eventually led to their first defeat in the tournament by 78 runs.
Riders will be eyeing to make a comeback against Bulls and their players need bat more responsibly, especially after their performance in the last game. They have done well in the tournament barring their defeat against Dhaka and their bowlers will have to deliver yet again. Victory against Bulls will take them on par with Bulls separated only by Net Run Rate. Overall, this team has the talent and players and if they can perform to their ability, it won’t be surprising if they emerge on top.
Rangpur Riders tasted their first defeat of the season and are now pitted against powerful looking Barisal Bulls. With Dawid Malan, Shahriar Nafees and Mushfiqur in top form, the Bulls go in as favourites in this game
