About the Match
We are halfway through in the 24-match Karnataka Premier League and the things have started to get exciting. Bengaluru Blasters, after playing three games in the tournament, are yet to register a name against their name. Namma Shivamogga are reeling at the third from the bottom spot and the result of their upcoming fixture will dictate where they'll be after four games. A win could take them second spot in the points table whereas there's a slight mathematical possibility of them dropping to the bottom spot if Bengaluru are able to thrash damn by a huge enough margin. It is a do-or-die situation for Blasters whereas Shivamogga will be looking to strengthen their chances of qualification to the knockouts. Considering the stakes involved, we expect a thrilling contest on a track which has suited bowlers and batsmen alike.
Things haven't been bright for the Blasters in the ongoing season so far. Having played and lost three games in a row, it will be their last chance to win to keep any chances of qualification to the playoffs alive. They'll be coming after a good break of a couple of days which should help them to clear their mind and get up and ready for the upcoming game.
Batting hasn't done particularly well in any of the games. On the difficult surfaces, they struggled to stay afloat and lost wickets in clusters whereas, on surfaces which suited batting to some extent, the batsmen tried to do too much too soon and got out cheaply. They started off well in their last game against the Panthers, but Binny's heroic knock pushed them out of the box. Their batting struggled against a massive target of 193 and succumbed to the pressure of scoring runs quickly.
Their bowlers did well in their first couple of games, but it wasn't their day against the Panthers. The fans will be expecting the bowlers to find their rhythm and batsmen to stay in the middle and if they can do that, things could get very interesting for them.
Namma Shivamogga hasn't had a bad tournament, but are still lingering in the bottom half of the table. One rain affected game where they shared points with the Tuskers and a win against Bijapur Bulls has taken their points tally to three in as many games. Liyan Khan, Shoaib Manager, and Rongsen Jonathan have been in terrific form at the top of the order.
Liyam Khan and Shoaib Manager scored 50 and 66 in 43 and 40 balls to take their total to 161 which they eventually defended by 28 runs. Bowlers have done reasonably well and the team will be looking forward to notching yet another victory.
Namma Shivamogga were one of the teams in the bottom half in the last season and have done well so far in the tournament. A win here will take them to the second spot in the points table and with batting in prime form, they will certainly be up for a challenge against Bengaluru Blasters.
It is a do-or-die encounter for the Bengaluru Blasters and they'd want to make the most of it. Namma Shivamogga too will love to register a win ensure a place in the playoffs. Blasters have looked out of touch in the season so far and with Shivamogga's batting in fine form, they appear a little light as far as hitting power is concerned. Namma Shivamogga go in as favorites in this upcoming encounter
