Not long ago, Brisbane Heat looked all set for a flourishing finish to the tournament, but a couple of losses has pushed them into the bottom half of the table. They'll have an opportunity to bounce back to the top-four on Tuesday when they face Adelaide Strikers in the upcoming match of the tournament. Adelaide Strikers have done pretty well in the tournament so far and are placed at the fourth spot with a spectacular net run-rate of 0.561. Both the sides have some terrific strikers of the cricket ball and with the surface likely to be a treat to bat on for the batsmen, we expect a high-scoring encounter between the two sides. The match is to be played at the Gabba, Brisbane.
With the likes of Max Bryant, Tom Banton, and Chris Lynn already at their disposal, Brisbane Heat will be pumped to see AB de Villiers in the middle-order. AB de Villiers was spectacular in the recently concluded Mzansi Super League and will be looking to replicate the things in Australia as well.
Up in the tournament so far, the Heat have depended heavily on their top-three, but the addition of AB de Villiers will certainly help them cover up their middle-order inconsitencies. On the back of those inconsistencies, the Heat are currently placed at the sixth spot on the ladder with eight points to their name in eight matches. They have a decent net run-rate of -0.076, which should improve as they get more wins under their belt.
In their recent match, the Heat were defeated by Perth Scorchers after Heat's bowlers failed to do anything of substance. Chasing a total of 213, all hopes were pinned on the shoulders of their top-three. While Tom Banton showed some resistance with his quick-fire fifty, the likes of Chris Lynn and Max Bryant failed to contribute enough to trouble the Scorchers.
The story of the last match summed up the tournament for the Heat. Brisbane Heat have relied a little too much on their top order batsmen, but this has worked for them so far. With AB de Villiers joining them, they'll have an even more balanced batting lineup and if their bowlers can contribute better than they have been doing, Brisbane Heat will be a tough team to defeat.
Max Bryant, Chris Lynn, AB de Villiers, Matt Renshaw, Joe Burns , Ben Cutting, Jimmy Peirson, James Pattinson, Josh Lalor, Mitchell Swepson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
Although the Strikers have won just as many matches as Brisbane Heat, they are a couple of spot above them on the ladder. With four wins and one wash-out, the Strikers are placed at the fourth spot on the ladder with a net run-rate of 0.561.
Adelaide Strikers got off to a pretty good start, but they now seem to be losing steam. From their last four matches, they have managed to win just one, and their spinners have been largely ineffective.
Recently, they got off a superb win over Melbourne Renegades in their previous match, defeating Renegades by a considerable margin of 63 runs. Batting first, the Strikers batsmen finally found form with Jonathan Wells and Matthew Short playing spectacular knocks. Jonathan Wells smashed a fantastic fifty whereas Matt Short scored 41 off 28 deliveries.
Their bowlers proved too hot to handle for the Renegades as they Renegades were completely dismantled for a total of 110. Travis Heat, Peter Sittle, and Rashid Khan were brilliant as they returned with the figures of 7 for 59 in their 11 overs combined.
Jake Weatherald, Philip Salt, TM Head, JW Wells, Matthew Short, Harry Nielsen, Michael Neser, Rashid Khan, Peter Siddle, Liam O'Connor, Harry Conway.

With business end of the tournament not too far away, this is an important game for both the sides. The win here will not only make things easier for the winning team, but will also make things tougher for the side losing the match. The compeition is gettign stiffer with every passing match and both the sides are likely to come out all guns blazing. Comparing the two teams on the basis of recent-form, it's hard to choose between the two. However, the Heat are a better-balanced side with the bat with AB de Villiers joining them, at least on paper, and are playing at home. Therefore, we think that they will come out on top in this all-important match of the tournament.
