BH vs HBH Match Prediction - Jan 08, 2022

Brisbane Heat was playing with both hands tied behind its back in the previous match as only three of its first-choice players were left available to it after COVID infections ran through the camp. Now, it has to play another tough match against the Hobart Hurricanes and pretty much hope for a miracle.

No surprise then that the Hob art Hurricanes have been given the tag of clear favorites by all the best cricket betting sites in the world. Still, there may be a few betting markets to find some good value.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Brisbane Heat vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the Gabba, Brisbane on the 8th of January 2022.

BH vs HBH Team Previews

Brisbane Heat

Brisbane Heat has been forced to play with just a couple of its first-choice players available and it almost seems unfair. However, there is not much that the team can do about that right now. With three wins from nine matches, Brisbane Heat has had a forgettable season but it was just beginning to pick up some momentum before COVID derailed it completely.

Looking at the lineup that played in the previous match, Jake Lehmann top-scored with 65 and will certainly play a big role in this match as well. Fakhar Zaman has joined the team and has been in great form this year (his brutal attack against the ussies in the T20 World Cup semi is still fresh in our minds!), and Sam Heazlett has been the best batsman for Brisbane Heat thus far. With Tom Cooper also available, Brisbane Heat has four excellent batters around which to construct its team.

Sure, the depth in the team is lacking, and not having enough confidence in the players to follow can also affect the manner in which the leading batsmen play, but we don't think anyone should be completely writing off Brisbane Heat just yet.

The bowling is where a bigger problem seems to arise. Mujeeb ur Rahman is the only member of their first-choice bowling attack that is available right now. He has not been having the best of seasons and to suddenly expect him to change things around is a bit optimistic as well. David Grant picked up three wickets in the previous match and showed promise but as a whole, we expect the Brisbane Heat bowling to struggle against the Hobart Hurricanes.

Brisbane Heat Playing 11

Jack Clayton, Jake Lehmann, Lachlan Pfeffer, Sam Heazlett, Tom Cooper, Jack Wood, Steven McGiffin, Will Prestwidge, Patrick Dooley, David Grant, Mujeeb Ur Rahman.

Hobart Hurricanes

Two losses in the previous two matches for the Hobart Hurricanes have just slowed down its progress this season. The fact that both losses came against teams it was the favorite to beat will not make things any easier. Now, this match against a depleted Brisbane Heat team assumes a lot more importance.

The Hobart Hurricanes have a much stronger batting lineup than Brisbane Heat. They have Ben McDermott (two centuries this season), Mathew Wade, Darcy Short, Tim David, Peter Handscomb, and Caleb Jewell. This is the cream of the Australian batting talent right now and we are not going to bet against it, especially when it is facing a second strong bowling attack.

The betting strategy here should be to try and bet on the Hobart Hurricanes as a unit wherever possible. Most sixes, Most fours, Highest Score 1st 6 overs, and other such betting markets could prove to be quite profitable. You are unlikely to get the usual odds but it will still add up to be quite a productive return.

The bowling lineup for the Hobart Hurricanes is also almost at full strength. Sandeep Lamichhane is the lead spinner with support from Tim David and Darcy Short. Riley Meredith and Thomas Rogers are the lead fast bowlers. There is a lot of depth and variety here to ensure that the Hurricanes have the upper hand in most situations.

Pitch and Conditions

A little bit of rain that is expected to ease up as we approach the time of the start of the match has been forecast. We are hoping that means an uninterrupted match that goes the entire duration of 20 overs a side. The pitch at the Gabba is always fast and bouncy. Batsmen have the opportunity of using the pace while the bowlers enjoy the bounce. The big outfield can make six-hitting more difficult than you would first imagine.
