The defending champions of the WBBL are back in action as they get ready to play against the Adelaide Strikers. Brisbane Heat has had a mixed WBBL 05 so far. It started with a smashing win against the Sydney Sixers but then lost its next two matches quite easily as well. Can it finally get back into the sort of form that saw it win the title last year?
Adelaide Strikers women have three wins in four matches and are right at the top of the table at this early stage in the tournament. They have some good momentum behind them and know that this is a good time to try and put some distance between themselves and the other teams.
Brisbane Heat Women vs Adelaide Strikers Women WBBL 05 is going to be played at Harrup Park, Mackay on the 2nd of November 2019.
Beth Mooney is currently the highest run-scorer in the entire tournament with 196 runs from just four matches. She is scoring runs at an average of 65.33 and is scoring at a strike rate of 112.64.
The strike rate could see some improvement but the consistency more than makes up for that. It is very fortunate for Brisbane Heat that Beth Mooney is in the kind of form that she is because there are not too many other batters in the side that are holding their own.
Players like Grace Harris, Kirby Short, Maddy Green, and Laura Harris have struggled to find good form. Jess Jonassen has contributed in a few innings and Amelia Kerr is proving to be someone that can score runs in the lower order but as a whole, the batting performances of Brisbane Heat have been disappointing.
They will have to better against the in-form Adelaide Strikers otherwise they could face yet another defeat.
The bowling attack for Brisbane Heat is very good and should be able to keep the pressure on the Adelaide Strikers batting. Jess Jonassen picked up four wickets in the previous match and is second on the list of most wicket-takers right now.
Amelia Kerr has already shown how dangerous she can be with her leg-spin while Sammy Jo-Johnson is in good bowling form as well.

An excellent bowling performance from the Adelaide Strikers in their most recent match against the Perth Scorchers helped them get a comprehensive win. Early wickets for Megan Schutt and Sophie Devine set the tone for the inning after which Sarah Coyte, Suzie Bates, and the rest capitalized.
Both Schuut and Coyte are in the list of the top-10 wicket-takers for the tournament right now and it would not be surprising to see them both rise further in the rankings as WBBL 05 progresses.
The Strikers have a very good bowling attack and would be looking to get Beth Mooney early. If that happens then the struggling Brisbane Heat batting could completely capitulate.
The Strikers own batting has not been too poor but there are some weaknesses there as well. Sophie Devine has been the highest scorer for the side with 126 runs to her name so far but Tahlia McGrath, Lauren Winfield, and Suzie Bates have been pretty good as well.
If Bridget Patterson and Katie Mack can start contributing with the bat regularly as well then this Adelaide Strikers team is going to be hard to stop.
We think they match up well against Brisbane Heat in every aspect of the game and also have some excellent form to back that up.

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first. Chasing has been the norm when teams play at venues away from the usual ones to get a better idea of the pitch.

The weather in Mackay is expected to be cloudy but rain-free on match day. There is only a negligible chance that rain is going to interrupt the proceedings. As far as the pitch goes, the surface in Mackay is going to be flat and good for batting. Players may take a bit of time to adapt to the slower pace of the wicket but that is going to be the only major challenge.
A score of about 140 could be a good one on this surface.
We think that the Adelaide Strikers have the better lineup and are in better form coming into this match. Brisbane Heat’s batting troubles could cost it heavily as they are just too reliant on Beth Mooney at the moment.
Bet on the Adelaide Strikers to win.
