The action in the WBBL comes thick and fast as Brisbane Heat gets ready to face the Adelaide Strikers for the second time in two days. The Adelaide Strikers won the first contest by a resounding eight wickets and subjected the defending champions of the Women’s Big Bash to their third defeat in five matches.
The Adelaide Strikers now have four wins from five matches and could open a nice little lead at the top with another victory in this upcoming match. Brisbane Heat needs to change a few things around because its tactics are not working this season.
Brisbane Heat Women vs Adelaide Strikers Women WBBL 05 is going to be played at Harrup Park, Mackay on the 3rd of November 2019.
Brisbane Heat knew it was up for a tough couple of matches as it took on the in-form Adelaide Strikers. The Heat batting has been completely dependent on Beth Mooney for this entire tournament and that did not change in the previous match either.
Beth Mooney continued her spectacular form and added 73 runs to her tally. She is now a fair distance ahead of the rest of the field in the most-runs scored list. Unfortunately, the other players have not been contributing at all.
Grace Harris and Laura Harris were the only other two batters to get into double figures and neither of them crossed 20.
This is why Brisbane Heat ended up with a below-par total of just 139.
Looking ahead, it is just a matter of time before Beth Mooney gets out early at the top of the order, she is human after all, and then what happens to the Brisbane Heat batting? Jess Jonassen and Maddy green have shown a few glimpses of form in WBBL 05 but nothing too inspire too much confidence.
Perhaps, as importantly, the bowling for Brisbane Heat has been a major disappointment as well. Jess Jonassen, Delissa Kimmence, Sammy Jo-Johnson, Amelia Kerr, and Grace Harris all are pretty good bowlers but they have not been having much impact in WBBL 05.
The ease with which the opponents are batting against Brisbane Heat adds further question marks on their current form.
Grace Harris, Beth Mooney, Jess Jonassen, Maddy Green, Laura Harris, Sammy Jo Johnson, Amelia Kerr, Delissa Kimmince, Kirby Short, Mikayla Hinkley, Georgia Prestwidge.
A comprehensive performance from Adelaide Strikers helped them secure an easy victory against Brisbane Heat. Five of the Adelaide bowlers took two wickets each and three out of the four batters to come in the middle scored runs.
Sophie Devine, the only batter to miss out, has also been in good form during WBBL 05.
The fact that so many of its players are contributing to the victories makes the Adelaide Strikers a very dangerous team. They have a good bowing lineup led by Megan Schutt, Sophie Devine, and Sarah Coyte (who is climbing up the ranks of highest wicket-takers quickly) which is not going to change overnight.
In fact, having absolutely no time in between matches gives the Adelaide Strikers more of an advantage than Brisbane Heat. The Strikers are on a hot winning streak and are full of confidence. They don’t have to worry about changing their team or the batting order.
Brisbane Heat on the other hand is going to wonder what they can do to turn things around in such a short time.
Suzie Bates, Sophie Devine, Tahlia McGrath, Bridget Patterson, Lauren Winfield, and Katie Mack form one of the strongest batting lineups in this entire tournament. With the form the top-order is in, it seems likely that one or the other player is going to have a good game and get the runs that the Strikers need to win.

The weather forecast for Mackay is for a clear day free from rain. There may be some clouds around during the second half of the match but no rain is expected to fall. The pitch in Harrup Park was excellent for batting. It was on the slowish side as was expected but nothing that the players could not overcome.
A total of around 140 should be seen as par for the surface.
We are happy to stick with the Adelaide Strikers for this match as well.
