BHW vs HBHW Match Prediction - Nov 23, 2022

The Heat will take on the Hurricanes in the eliminator game of the WBBL finals. The winner of this match will face the Strikers in the challenger match.

The biggest surprise was Perth missing out on everything, as the Scorchers were the champions of last season. The Heat are emboldened with the return of star batter Georgia Redmayne after her hamstring injury.

BHW vs HBHW Team Previews

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat clung on to third place even without Redmayne in the lineup, which included a win over the Strikers, loss to the Sixers, and a no-result after their match against the Stars was affected by rain.

Redmayne makes such a big difference to the batting lineup, as she was the league leader for a long time with her 333 runs. It’s possible she might be a bit rusty from her time off, but she’s got the talent and experience to pull through and make a considerable total.

Brisbane can have a great game even without Redmayne, as Danni Wyatt has batted brilliantly lately, making 31 and 52 in her last two matches. Georgia Voll hasn’t played amazingly well, but both Grace Harris and Laura Harris are capable of big scores, as the former made a whopping 74 runs not long ago.

Where Brisbane truly shines is with their bowling, as they have three bowlers in the top eight wicket-takers in the league, including Nicola Hancock (22), Jessica Jonassen (20), and Amelia Kerr (19).

Hancock probably makes more of an impact per game and is the one who will have to shine for Brisbane to get a victory, but Jonassen and Kerr are sneakily good when necessary. Hancock needs to lower that ER, though, as it’s too high at 8.38.

Hobart Hurricanes Women

The Hurricanes have become a great story lately, especially to get the fourth spot over Perth. Being fourth, however, means that they’ll have to win three straight games for the championship, which is never easy.

Hobart did lose their last two games against the Strikers and Sixers, so we’re not sure if they’ll have the confidence to get a win over a big team like Brisbane. Still, they’re going to make a real game out of it, especially with great batting from Mignon Du Preez (366 runs). If Hobart will win, it will be down to her, as she’s in fine form after making 50*, 75, and 38 in her last three games.

Where Du Preez will get help from remains to be seen, as Lee, Villani, and Graham are all capable batters but not the most reliable. Lee is solid but rarely scores over 30, Villani has experience but posted three scores under 10, and Graham hits big but this sometimes results in a quick dismissal.

Bowler Molly Strano is the team’s leading wicket-taker with 13, but that’s not much compared to other squads and she hasn’t had a dismissal in her last three matches. Nicola Carey is the next best with 10 wickets, but Hobart’s bowling just doesn’t inspire us and the Heat will make light work of things.

BHW vs HBHW Toss Prediction

Brisbane is 5-1 when batting first against the Hurricanes, so they’ll likely keep this up if winning the toss.

Pitch and Conditions

The pitch is fairly balanced but usually batters have a good time here and make big scores.

BHW vs HBHW Betting Tips

It should be a fun match, especially if Du Preez is in form, but the Heat have so many great batters and now that Redmayne is back, then Brisbane is the favourite here. The Heat’s bowling is so strong and there’s no room for any mistakes, which Hobart makes often.

Hobart’s poor bowling and lack of great batters apart from Du Preez make Brisbane the choice to get a victory and advance to the next game. Although Hobart did win the last match between these two, Brisbane is 11-4 overall and won the last seven before that.

Bet on Brisbane to win.
