The Melbourne Stars have been one of the most improved sides of the WBBL so far. They have started the tournament by winning three out of its five matches and in pretty decent form. The Stars will be taking on another team in good touch, the Brisbane Heat, as both sides try to cement their place in the top half of the tournament.
Brisbane Heat started the tournament with a poor performance but has since turned things around. It has been one of the more consistent teams and should go into the match as favorites.
Brisbane Heat seems to have learned from its mistakes in the opening fixture of the WBBL where it batted too slowly and was unable to get anywhere close to the target it was chasing. Since then, Harris at the top of the order has helped change things around.
She did not get too many in this last match but Mooney and Johnson stepped up. In fact, Johnson scored 31 from 10 deliveries to turbocharge the Brisbane Heat inning.
Useful contributions from players down the lineup then helped Brisbane Heat reach a total of 174 which they defended quite easily. The bowling effort that followed also showed that the side needs some scoreboard pressure to make its bowlers more effective.
Not having a stellar bowling lineup is nothing new. All WBBL sides have a bowling attack with maybe one or a maximum of two good bowlers. The rest turn their arm over and end up giving scoring opportunities.
Since most of the sides have the same weakness, it ends up being even out over the long run.
This is why we believe that a good batting side is going to have an advantage in the WBBL. Brisbane Heat has an in-form batting lineup that is scoring good total consistently and has discovered a power game which can blow away the opposition.
They will continue to be a force as long as they have their top-order firing. A game will come when this high-risk approach backfired spectacularly but that is the risk one has to assume in T20 cricket.

The Melbourne Stars continue to find ways of winning matches even though the side has some real weaknesses. A brilliant inning from Lizelle Lee started off the tournament for them and then some very good bowling performances took center stage as well.
Even this last game against the Perth Scorchers which they won, it was the bowlers that kept the opposition to 90 in their full 20 overs. Can the Melbourne Stars do something similar against Brisbane Heat as well?
It is certainly possible although we think it is highly unlikely.
Still, the bowling group of the Melbourne Stars would be full of confidence. Ferling, Elwiss, and Beams had an excellent day out while the other bowlers were very tight as well. There are a lot of bowling options in the Melbourne Stars and so the team can switch it up if someone is having a bad day.
The batting of the Melbourne Stars centers around Lizelle Lee at the top of the order. She has the ability to score quickly and construct long innings. If she can stay in good form and be somewhat consistent then the Melbourne Stars may be looking at their best ever season in the WBBL.
Reakes, Mack, du Preez, and Elwiss all have a role to play as well. It is not possible for Lee to score in every single match and that is where the others have to step up. Winning provides confidence and hopefully, the Melbourne Stars batters can feed off from the team’s success.

The side winning the toss is likely to bat first

The WBBL match between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars is going to be played at Brisbane Cricket Ground, Brisbane. The Gabba is known for providing a quick surface with plenty of bounce and that is exactly what we expect for this match as well.
Both sides will find the ball coming on to the bat nicely and should be able to score more freely. We think a high scoring match is in store.
We think this match is going to be a close one. Both sides are in good form and have players that are performing well. The batting looks dangerous on both sides although the Melbourne Stars are a bit too dependent on Lizelle Lee. The bowling is also quite similar and should cancel each other out. Home advantage is on the side of Brisbane Heat, though.
Back Brisbane Heat to win.
