BHW vs PERW Match Prediction - Oct 29, 2022

What a match this is going to be! The top two teams in the WBBL will face off against each other in what’s bound to end up a feisty, exciting game that’s full of drama.

The Heat are top of the ladder with eight points and the Scorchers are second with seven points, however, Brisbane has played one more game than Perth. Therefore, if Perth wins then they’ll be first in the league.

Brisbane is coming off a surprise loss to the Strikers, while the Scorchers haven’t had the best of time either, with a loss to the Thunder and then a cancelled match due to rain versus the Hurricanes.

BHW vs PERW Team Previews

Brisbane Heat Women

The Heat were on fire with four wins in a row, but it was the Strikers who managed to pull off the upset win against them by 31 runs.

There’s really nothing more to this game than a top-order collapse, as the top four batters made a poor total of six runs! There was a bit of help from Charli Knott (29) and Jess Jonassen (23), but it just wasn’t enough and the team was bowled out for 109 runs.

This was quite the shock, especially for Georgia Redmayne, who is the WBBL’s top run scorer with 220. She’s normally pretty reliable, but made just four runs. However, this isn’t the Redmayne we’re going to get all season, so she’ll recover well enough for the Perth match.

Jonassen is rapidly becoming one of the best bowlers on the team, and she’s picked up 5/37 in her last three matches. It’s great to see, and if she can continue to trouble the Perth batters with her versatile spin, then the Heat can definitely keep the Scorchers below 120 runs.

Perth Scorchers Women

A Scorchers win will always be due to a good performance from batters Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney. Devine has been a bit unreliable lately, but these two are still a lethal opening pair that opposing teams fear.

The biggest X-Factor may well be Maddy Green, as she’s a powerful hitter and has moments of brilliance. But her big shots do tend to get her out far too often, so it’s a bit of hit and miss. However, she’s a great batter to have when in desperate need of runs.

If the Scorchers have any chance to win, they need dependable bowling from both Lilly Mills and Piepa Cleary. Each one has shown cleverness, but we want to see it day in, day out.

Perth are still the reigning champs and this gives them a target on their backs.
