It is difficult to read too much into rain-affected matches because they can often be complete lotteries. A team can win such a match even if it has one or two good overs of cricket. Brisbane Heat was left 30 for 7 chasing a DLS total of 44 in its previous match against Sydney Thunder. It was a poor performance in some strange conditions but it does not make Heat a bad team.
Brisbane Heat will be hoping for better conditions as it takes on the Sydney Sixers in this next WBBL match. The Sydney Sixers have started strongly with two wins in its completed matches. This is a side that is hurting after an uncharacteristic off-season in 2019.
Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers WBBL 2020 is going to be played at the Blacktown International Sportspark, Sydney on the 4th of November 2020.
Brisbane Heat changed its batting order around and fell into the trap of trying to hit every ball for a boundary in its previous match. In some ways, the tactics showed the naivety of its captain, Jess Jonassen. Cricket is always more than just turning up and trying to hit the ball as hard as possible and Jonassen will learn that quickly.
We think the team will go back to the formula it adopted in its opening match against the Scorchers.
That is where the team opened with Georgia Redmayne and looked to set a base before utilizing the number of hard-hitters in the side. Grace Harris was very effective in the middle alongside Jess Jonassen. Players like Maddy Green, Laura Harris, and Amelia Kerr make this a pretty decent batting lineup.
It is, however, a batting lineup that we think will struggle under pressure.
The bowling appears to be well-sorted with the likes of Nicola Hancock, Delissa Kimmince, and Jess Jonassen. There is enough quality to ask questions of a very strong Sydney Sixers batting unit. It also appears as if Jess Jonassen is more comfortable with this part of the captaincy where she has to take decisions on the field.
Maddy Green, Georgia Redmayne, Jess Jonassen, Grace Harris, Laura Harris, Amelia Kerr, Delissa Kimmince, Georgia Voll, Nadine de Klerk, Georgia Prestwidge, Nicola Hancock.
Alyssa Healy can lay claim to being the most dangerous batter in women’s cricket. Her ability to strike the ball cleanly paired with her love to perform on the biggest of stages makes her the first name on the team sheet.
Her 60 from just 31 balls was brilliant to watch. Not only did she strike the ball well but she did not see the need to hit the ball aerially too often.
Ellyse Perry made a useful 20 and the time she spent in the middle will help her get back to her best.
Ash Gardner gave a brief glimpse of what she is capable of with 20 off 8 deliveries.
These three form the most dangerous top-order in the WBBL. They are also followed by a lot of batting quality and experience that makes the Sydney Sixers very dangerous to come across and extremely difficult to keep down.
Gardner and Perry are a big part of the bowling attack as well alongside Kapp, Niekerk, and Campbell.
The bowling attack for the Sydney Sixers is average, especially when you consider that Ellyse Perry is not quite at her best yet.
Ellyse Perry, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner, Erin Burns, Marizanne Kapp, Dane van Niekerk, Angela Reakes, Lisa Griffith, Hayley Silver-Holmes, Jodie Hicks, Stella Campbell.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to bat first unless there is a threat of rain around.

Another day without rain has been forecast in Sydney for match day and that is good news for everyone involved. We think the teams should be able to play out a full uninterrupted contest. The pitch is going to be a bit on the slower side but good for batting once the batters spend some time on the crease.
There has not been any extravagant help for the spinners so far. The outfield is going to be faster than in previous matches after a sunny spell in Sydney.
A score of around 140-150 seems to be the minimum that teams batting first are going to aim for.
We think the Sydney Sixers are the team to back. They may have been beaten the last three times they have come across Brisbane Heat but the circumstances are different this time. A better batting lineup, more experience, and better leadership should help it get the win pretty easily.
Bet on the Sydney Sixers to win.
