BR vs JT Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 30, 2018

As we are getting closer to the business end in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League, things are getting more exciting with every passing match. As many as three teams are with eight points at the top of the table separated only by net run rate. Jamaica Tallawahs have played most number of matches amongst those three teams, seven to be precise, and will need a win in their next match to maintain their stronghold at the top. They're up against Barbados Tridents in their next game which is to be played on 30th August 2018 at Bridgetown. The Tridents are struggling at the bottom of the table, but the situation will become a lot better for them should they win against the Tallawahs. With playoffs not too far away, every single point is of great significance in this tournament and therefore we expect it to be a hard-fought contest.

BR vs JT Team Previews

Barbados Royals

Barbados Tridents suffered their third loss of the tournament, against Trinbago Knight Riders, as they lost by a considerably big margin of six wickets. The Knight Riders overhauled the total of 128 with 21 balls to spare.

The Tridents got off to a forgetful start as Khary Pierre caused a havoc in the Tridents' batting. He affected three dismissals in the second over of the innings, with two wickets and a run-out. The Tridents were then reduced to 3 for 3 and they just could gather any momentum whatsoever after that start. Shai Hope, Nicholas Pooran, and Jason Holder did manage to get some runs as the Tridents somehow scratched to 128, but the total proved to be too little for the powerful batting lineup of the Knight Riders.

Their bowlers tried valiantly to defend the paltry total but failed to contain the experienced Kiwi superstar, Brendon McCullum. Mohammad Irfan was superb upfront as he returned with the figures of 4-0-24-2. Jason Holder, although went wicketless, was pretty economical giving just 13 runs off his four overs. Although the bowlers toiled hard and dismissed six of Knight Riders' batsmen, the total was too little to defend.

Jamaica Tallawahs

A win in their last game, against St Lucia Stars, lifted the Tallawahs to top of the table but wins for Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors in their respective games have pushed the Tallawahs to the third spot, despite having the same number of points.

At one time, they were leading the points table with quite some margin, but due to three consecutive losses, they lost the momentum and margin before they finally won against the Stars. Batting first in their last game, the Tallawahs started off well and were 56 for 1 at powerplay was concluded. They promoted Rovman Powell to 2-down position and their move paid off massively. He got hold of the Stars' bowlers, striking 64 off just 37 deliveries. He was involved with a 100 run partnership with Kennar Lewis as the duo propelled the Tallawah's total to 204. The only matter of concern for Tallawahs will be Andre Russel's form with the bat who hasn't done anything substantial after his scintillating century earlier in the tournament.

Chasing such a tall-total was always going to be difficult even for a star-studded batting lineup of Stars and the Tallawahs ensured just that. Andre Russell was their best bowler, picking 2 for 15 in his three. He was ably assisted by the likes of O Thomas, Imad Wasim, and Adam Zampa. Imad Wasim will be unavailable for the remaining matches in the competition and the Tallawahs have roped in Colin de Grandhomme as his replacement.

BR vs JT Betting Tips

It's an important game for both the sides with more than half of the tournament already gone. The Tallawahs bounced back with a win after three consecutive defeat whereas the Tridents failed to impress yet again. With a powerful batting lineup and a win in their last match, the Tallawahs will be the more confident of the two teams and we expect them to register their fifth win of the tournament against Barbados Tridents.
