BR vs SLK Match Prediction - Sep 29, 2019

It’s a straight shootout for the final CPL 2019 playoff between the Barbados Tridents and the St. Lucia Zouks in this match. This is the last group stage match for the St. Lucia Zouks while the Barbados Tridents have one more remaining.

That remaining match for the Barbados Tridents is pretty much meaningless, though. The St. Lucia Zouks are on seven points right now from nine matches while the Barbados Tridents have six points from eight matches.

If the Zouks win this match then the Tridents cannot catch them. If the Tridents win this match then even if they lose their next match they will end up qualifying.

Barbados Tridents vs St. Lucia Zouks CPL 2019 is going to be played at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on the 29th of September 2019.

BR vs SLK Team Previews

Barbados Royals

The Barbados Tridents had an excellent chance of ensuring their passage to the CPL 2019 playoffs but they failed to take their chances. It almost seemed like the Tridents outsmarted themselves by making changes that were not needed.

Jonathan Carter did well in the opening position but was once again shunted down the order, JP Duminy dropped himself from the number three position from where scored the fastest fifty in CPL history in just the previous game, and the bowling attack was shifted around as well.

The end result was that the Barbados Tridents became very top-heavy and did not have anyone to shepherd their inning when the going became tough.

They cannot afford to shoot themselves in the foot against the St. Lucia Zouks.

Shakib Al Hasan’s addition was a big boost in both the batting and bowling departments but the rest of the batsmen must do better against the Zouks.

Alex Hales, Johnson Charles, JP Duminy, and Jonathan Carter form a strong top-order but are vulnerable because there is nothing to follow in the middle and lower order.

It was a spin-heavy bowling attack that the Barbados Tridents called upon in the previous match. Jason Holder and Harry Gurney were the frontline pace bowlers while the rest of the overs were distributed between Shakib Al Hasan, Hayden Walsh, Chemar Holder, and Raymon Riefer.

St Lucia Kings

There are some very similar batting weaknesses in the St. Lucia Zouks side just as the Barbados Tridents. The Zouks are also a top-heavy side with a very shallow batting depth. There is just not enough batting in the side to be able to get the big scores needed in this tournament consistently.

It was Rakheem Cornwall who played magnificently and won the previous match with a smashing fifty and he has done that a couple of times now.

Rakheem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher are two very dangerous batsmen that are quite inconsistent because of their methods. Since there are only Colin Ingram and Colin de Grandhomme to follow, the risk of a batting collapse is even higher in the St. Lucia Zouks.

Now, the bowling. This is one area where the Zouks have the Tridents beat.

Fawad Ahmed, Hardus Viljoen, Krishmar Santokie, Kesrick Williams, and Rakheem Cornwall are all very dangerous bowlers. This lineup has the spinners needed to make the most of any help that the surface may offer.

We are very sure that the St. Lucia Zouks can keep the Barbados Tridents to a par total or defend a good score. The onus is going to be on the batsmen to deliver.

Pitch and Conditions

The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, which is the hos for this match has been a good cricket wicket so far. It has allowed the batsmen to score runs after getting in but also has a little something in for the bowlers.

A score of around 150 has been difficult to chase down batting first at this venue.

We don’t think this anything drastically different is going to be seen in this match as well.

The weather forecast for this match is pretty decent and we should not have any interruptions.

BR vs SLK Betting Tips

These are two evenly matches teams with everything on the line. The Barbados Tridents have a terrible record at home and have won just one match here so far. We think, however, that the Tridents are a slightly better side with more experience in its lineup. The presence of JP Duminy and Shakib Al Hasan gives it a lot of flexibility which could give it an advantage in this contest.

Bet on the St. Lucia Zouks to win.
