BR vs TKR Match & Analysis

St Lucia Zouks continued their impressive run in the tournament with an imposing win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The win pushed them to the second place on the ladder, tied on points and separated only by net run-rate. They are breathing down the Knight Riders' neck and the Knight Riders will need to keep going if they want to retain the top of the table position.

Trinbago Knight Riders are set to face Barbados Tridents in the next match and given the recent results of both sides, the match promises to be an exciting affair. Barbados Tridents are coming off a superb win over Jamaica Tallawahs and will be looking to rise up the ladder and get closer to the semi-final spot. It won't be easy for them considering the form the Knight Riders have been in. The match will be played at Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad, on 29th August 2020.

BR vs TKR Team Previews

Barbados Royals

The defending champions finally have something going for them. It was all high and dry for the Tridents between the first win and their win against Jamaica Tallawahs. Barbados Tridents, despite having a good side, were struggling to produce favorable results and their win over the Tallawahs should do them world of good. They now occupy the third spot on the points table and should be looking to move only up from here.

While Barbados Tridents were far from clinical with the bat against the Tallawahs, it certainly wasn't the case with the ball. They didn't have a tall total on the board, maybe enough considering the surface, but the way their bowlers went about their business to defend the total was commendable.

Batting first on a slow surface, Tridents struggled throughout their innings and had to be dragged by just one batsman and it was not of the usual suspects that got Tridents going. Kyle Myers came into the side with a pretty dismal set of stats behind him in his T20 career. He adopted the slam-bang approach to break-free of the shackles as he smashed five sixes in a space of just fifteen deliveries. However, like most of the other batsmen, Mayers struggled against spin and with surfaces getting slower and lower with every passing match, his struggle against the spin could be exploited by the experienced side of Knight Riders.

Despite having a total of only 147 to defend, Barbados Tridents looked energetic and competitive on the field. Mujeeb ur Rahman and Sandeep Lamichhane were brilliant upfront and strangled Tallawahs. The duo that has an economy rate of 4.25 combined in the tournament so far laid the road to victory for the Tridents against Tallawahs as well. In the eight overs they bowled in total, they gave away just 30 runs and picked up five wickets in the process.

All in all, there's no doubt about the strength and versatility of the Tridents' spin department. Their batting hasn't been as powerful as some of the other teams in the tournament, but they have terrific bowling that can win them matches on its own. As we move towards the business end of the tournament, they would need their batting to step up their game and if they are able to do that, it won't be surprising if they end up going all the way in this edition as well.

Trinbago Knight Riders

With four wins in four matches, the Knights Riders have been the best team in the tournament so far. They have been clinical in all of their wins and considering the momentum they have at the moment, it would be difficult to get past them for any team in the tournament. So good they have been in the tournament that even if they lose all of their five remaining matches, they will still qualify for the playoffs.

The most important factor that has contributed to Trinbago's success has been the balance they have. With Sunil Narine out of the two sides, they last an all-rounder, who would so often get them off to good starts with the bat and keep things tight with the bat. His absence hasn't made even a minute difference to the momentum they seem to be having and that speaks volumes about the balance they have.

In their most recent match, their bowling did remarkably well against Guyana Amazon Warriors as they cruised to another win in the tournament. Khary Pierre was brilliant yet again as he not only strangled the Warriors in the middle-overs but also picked up three important wickets. In Dwayne Bravo, they have a player that just doesn't get tired of making things difficult in the death overs for their opponents. He was superb yet again and never allowed the Warriors' batsmen to score quickly and break the shackles.

Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster looked good against the Warriors and that should help the Knight Riders with additional confidence. Their opening pair, that earlier appeared to be relying heavily on Narine's fireworks, now seems to be well-settled. With the likes of Colin Munro, Darren Bravo, Kieron Pollard, and Tim Seifert, they have a middle-order as good as any.

Most of their players play spin reasonably well and facing the spin duo of Tridents shouldn't be as big a challenge as it has been for some of the other teams in the tournament. The Knight Riders have had almost everyone contributing for them and the balance they have would need them to fail collectively to have a bad game and going by the experience they have, this seems to be a rather improbable scenario.

BR vs TKR Toss Prediction

The surface has been deteriorating and facing spinners is becoming more and more difficult with every passing match. With sun shining bright and both sides having experienced spinners, batting in the second innings will be difficult. Therefore, we expect the captain winning the toss to field first.

Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.

Pitch and Conditions

This is one of the last few matches that are to be played at this venue before we move back to Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba. As seen in the last few matches, the surface has been getting slower, and scoring runs is consequently getting increasingly difficult. Given that this is a day game, dew is not going to have any impact whatsoever in this match. The team batting first should be happy if they manage to put a total of anything over 160 runs on the board.

BR vs TKR Betting Tips

This is a match between the three-time champions and the defending champions and the adrenaline will be rushing through the players and fans alike. Experience plays a massive role in high-voltage encounters like these and we do not expect anything different this time around as well. Considering the combination of the two sides on paper and their respective performances in the tournament so far, Trinbago Knight Riders seem to be far ahead, and betting on their win in this upcoming match should be the way to go.

Our Favorite Bets

  1. Betway

    Total Overs With No Runs

    Over 0.5, 4

There's been some time since the action moved from Tarouba to Port of Spain. The surface that made batting look easy once is now difficult to score at. In addition to that, both sides have excellent spinners available at their disposal and scoring against them is not going to be easy. Therefore, we think that we will get at least one maiden over in the match match and that's all you'd need for this bet to turn profitable.

  1. 22Bet

When Will Next Wicket Fall - Trinbago Knight Riders - Runs at Fall of 1st Wicket

    Over 18.5, 1.83

Trinbago Knight Riders have done exceedingly well in the tournament so far, but not so much at the top of the order. Having said that, Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster did pretty well in the last match and looked to be getting back into form. Given that there is high probability that the opening pair will score at least a total of 19 runs. A pretty good bet considering the risk-reward ratio.

  1. 1xBet

    Best Batsman's Team

    Trinbago Knight Riders, 1.73

Between the two sides, Trinbago Knight Riders without a doubt have a better set of batsmen. Their batsmen have been in fantastic form with Darren Bravo, Colin Munro, and Tim Seifert amongst the runs in recent matches. Having a better bowling attack means that they are likely to get the Tridents' batsmen cheaply. The Tridents' batting has anyway not been in best of form. For those reasons, we believe that the best batsman of the match will come from the Knight Riders' camp.
