About the Match
Brisbane Heat faces Titans in the 6th Match of CLT20 on 24 September 2013. Brisbane lost their first encounter against Trinidad & Tobago on 22nd despite a very good showing on field. A target of just 136 runs could not be achieved by them due to a splendid accurate bowling by Rampaul and they fell short by 25 runs. Titans played their first match in Group B against CSK and they too ended up on losing side. They piled up an imposing total of 185 losing 5 wickets. AB de Villiers was at his best hitting all round the wicket with just 36 balls. The superior batting by Hussey, Raina and Bravo ensured the win by CSK with an over to spare. Mohali pitch is friendly and will assist both batting and fielding sides. Both the teams lost their first outing in Group B and now face each other, which should be pretty interesting.
Burns opened with skipper Hopes when the chase began against a modest total put up by Trinidad & Tobago in their last match. The middle order could not keep up the run rate. Only Forrest, Christian and Cutting could offer some resistance. Once Cutting was run out due to splendid fielding effort, there was no resistance by the tail. McDermott bowled very well to account for 4 wickets with good support by Roach, Hauritz, Cutting and Christian. It was the batsmen, who let the team down and they will try and regain the lost ground in their 2nd match. Hopes will depend upon his fast bowlers in McDermott, Roach, Cutting and Christian ably supported by his spinners Hauritz and Sabburg. Though they have very agile fielding side, they lack experience in chasing. They will do some homework, to tackle the experienced Titans.
The South African team, in their first match against CSK, played superbly. Dawids played a captain’s knock of 52 opening with Rudolf and later built the innings with Villiers, who blasted the CSK bowlers hitting 7 sixes, piling up 77 runs. Behardien contributed 21 off 14 balls. They built a solid innings of 185 runs. However, they couldn’t defend this total against formidable CSK. Morkel was hit all over the ground by Raina and Hussey. They should tighten the fielding without conceding too many extras. They will ensure that the momentum is sustained, exploiting the relatively less experienced players. Their strategy of aggressive batting display will help them to build an imposing total against the Brisbane team or keep up the required run rate, if chasing.
The Titans, with their experience and all-round performance are expected to demonstrate their brilliant batting, bowling and fielding capabilities at Mohali to see that they regain the lost ground as far as NRR is concerned. Brisbane Heats must have worked out the strategy against AB de Villiers, to contain him from the onslaught. Although they have good players, Brisbane is unlikely to make any dent on the Titans batting line up, and hence Titans are likely to win the contest.
