About the Match
With the win in their last game, Brisbane Heat have moved to three wins in three games and now they move to their home ground, The Gabba, Brisbane as they take on Sydney Sixers who have two wins in two matches to their name. The match is set to begin at 08:10 GMT on 3rd January 2017. As far as the head to head record between the two sides go, Sixers have outdone the Heat in four out of five matches. The only win of Heat came in the last season when they were facing testing times. Pitch is expected to be a batsmen paradise at Brisbane and with power-packed hitters on both sides, crowd will be in for a fun time.
Just opposite to what it was like in previous season, Brisbane Heat are off to a flying start. The addition of Brendon McCullum to the top has boosted their confidence and experience and due to which they have registered three wins out of three games. They have experienced yet explosive top-order with Brendon McCullum, Joe Burns and Chris Lynn.
Samuel Badree is known for his ability to restrict the run-flow and pick wickets and along with him Steketee has been a revelation for Brisbane Heat. They lack a bowler who can bowl with serious pace, but that hasn’t really hurt them with spinners and batting doing so well.
Heat have won five out of their last five matches in Big Bash League and they look to be in a rampaging mood at the moment. With batsmen in prime form and team on winning spree, they definitely are a tough unit to deal with.
Sixers’ campaign hasn’t been disappointing so far, but they’d have to step up if they want to prevent it from being so. Veteran Brad Haddin stays to be an important player along with Moises Henriques and JJ Roy. Nic Maddinson’s absence has already been felt and it would be interesting to see how the Sixers deal with it in the upcoming games.
Johan Botha has done extremely well for the Sixers with their first string attack busy with International duties. Having said that, their bowling has done reasonably well with Bollinger and Abbot playing a vital role.
Sixer’s start to this year’s BBL was brilliant. However, they failed to keep the bar up which resulted in two losses leaving them in the bottom half of the table. They have a weak lower middle order, but if their top-order and bowling delivers, they can give any team a run for their money.
Sixers started their campaign in a superb fashion as they defeated Thunders with a thumping win. Brisbane Heat, too, have been brilliant with Brendon McCullum opening the innings and Chris Lynn in the middle. The batsmen-friendly pitch and strong top-order makes Brisbane Heat firm favorites for this game.
