Being the defending champions, the Brisbane team has had a rough series till now and will look forward to turn things their way with a comeback in this match. Though the visitors have played one match less than the hosts, they will be eager to do well and climb up the points table; the contest is sure to provide some great entertainment to the fans and the result can go down to the very last ball of the match.
The batsmen could hardly put up a fight against the Renegades and they failed to reach the target of 211 runs set by them; being defeated by a huge margin of 57 runs. While Pomersbach started off well, he couldn’t sustain beyond the 9th over; Burns did well to score 36 runs off 27 deliveries and Cutting was the only middle-order batsmen to keep the scoreboard ticking by posting 40 runs off 19 balls that saw him smash away 5 sixes. However, a lack of strong partnerships and unfortunate run-outs in the end led to the side’s defeat and they were all-out for 153 runs. Earlier, the bowlers couldn’t contain the Renegades batsmen and gave away too many runs; though Christian took 2 wickets and Vettori claimed the wicket of Buttler, they failed to restrict the opponents and ended up with a tall target at hand. The team needs to get back to its winning ways and come up with a strong performance on their home turf.
The Sixers had a tough battle at hand in their last match against the Melbourne Stars, facing a taraget of 201 runs and the batsmen could muster up only 123 runs in their reply. While the openers, Lumb and Maddinson posted a 49-run partnership and North and Henriques contributed with their quick scoring, the opposition bowlers got the better of them and didn’t allow them to build the innings. While Henriques looked strong coming in the middle, he found no support from the other batsmen and the rest of the batting line-up was demolished without a fight. Earlier, Hazlewood found quick success and took 3 wickets giving away just 20 runs; but the others proved to be costly and too many runs were given away to the opponents. While Keefe and Bopara took a wicket each, the team couldn’t contain the Stars from scoring 200 runs, a target that the batsmen failed to achieve. This loss would have taught them a few lessons and the Sixers will definitely try to perform better here and win the match.
Brisbane Heat has the home advantage and their players are confident of making a comeback into the series with a win here; on the other hand the Sixers are eager to put their skills to use and come up with a brilliant performance here, however, the hosts are more likely to win this match.
