The Super50 Cup is well underway in the West Indies, and Barbados will continue its journey through Zone B as it faces the Jamaica Scorpions on Wednesday.

Barbados began its campaign on a winning note, defeating the Emerging Players team comfortably by 6 wickets. As expected, Roston Chase put up an excellent all-round performance, picking up 3 wickets and scoring an unbeaten 86 off just 81 deliveries.

He is expected to play an important role in the game against Jamaica too. Zachary McCaskie gave his team a good start. But the management will hope that Kraigg Brathwaite will perform better. Shai Hope, who has taken over the reins of the team from Jason Holder will lend strength to the middle order.

Jonathan Carter was the top scorer for the team last season but failed to open an account in the last match. However, it is just a matter of time before he strikes form. Much will be expected of Brandon King and Andre McCarthy, who were the top scorers last season. Odean Smith had proved to be a handy all-rounder in the last season but failed to make an impact with the bat in the last game. He did however pick up 4 wickets for his team.

Andre McCarthy hasn’t bowled yet this season, but we can expect to see his off breaks soon. What Jamaica lacks are some quality fast bowlers who can take wickets early on in the innings, and that can be a weak link for them.
