About the Match
The Cobras have maintained their lead by continuing on their winning spree; their last win against the Dolphins has got them a total of 21 point, whereas the Titans are placed at third position with 12 points on the board after they suffered a lost against the Knights on Sunday. With both teams looking confident to surge ahead in the tournament, this match will see a fierce contest between them; while the Cobras have a battery of established players on their side, the Titans are not far behind and can be a formidable force to reckon with.
While Hashim Amla failed to score runs in the last match, he has proved to be a strong pillar for the team and will definitely look to bounce back in the upcoming match; Duminy built a good 88-run partnership along with Ontong for the 4thwicket and these two batsmen can take charge whenever the situation demands. Richard Levi and Stiaan van Zyl need to step up and give good support to the team; the bowlers have done a fantastic job till now as witnessed in the previous match where Hendricks was once again astonishing with his figure of 4-32 that saw him cripple the Dolphins top order, taking 2 consecutive wickets for the first two balls of the 2nd innings. Sunil Narine, Mgijima and Duminy can be dangerous to the opponents and their combined efforts helped in the team’s victory by 25 runs; while Philander wasn’t successful in taking wickets he contained the runs and looks confident to demolish the opponents in the upcoming matches. This team will be a tough one to beat and with their continued domination in the series so far, the other teams will find it difficult to get past them.
It was a disappointing loss against the Knights as they failed to defend a total of 148 runs that was put up thanks to the 87-run partnership posted by Albie Morkel and Behardien after the top order collapse earlier on. While Davids and Rudolph did start well, they could have done much better and will need to sharpen their skills in the upcoming matches. Apart from Morkel who scored 66 runs off 32 balls that saw him smash away as many as 7 sixes and 4 fours, the rest of the batting line-up fell like a pack of cards without much of a fight. The bowling was inferior and while the Morkel brothers and Mbhalati took a wicket each, they couldn’t stop the opposition from reaching the target. The other bowlers like David Wiese, Merwe and all-rounder captain Henry Davids need to do their job with precision and deliver results for the team if they want to keep their campaign alive.
The Cobras have been riding high on success and look confident to continue on their winning momentum here; on the other hand the Titans who learnt some bitter lessons after their last defeat will be eager to bounce back with a win here. It will be tough contest between the hard-hitters from both sides; however the Cobras clearly go in as favorites to win the match.
