Central Stags

It is an all-important match for the Central Districts outfit with the race for the top position in the points table getting close to culmination. Other teams participating in the competition that are in the race for the top spot have just a single game left to play. Central districts on the other hand have a couple of matches. The Central Districts team has a good chance of ending up as champions. For achieving this target many batters in the line-up will have to find some sort of form. The Central Districts openers Greg Hay and Ben Smith have not been among runs in recent games.

Schmulian did hit a hundred against Northern Districts in the game before the last one. Tom Bruce also hit a fifty in that game scoring 67 runs when the Central District team got bowled out for 245 runs. Greg Hay will need to lead from the front at this stage of the competition. Other batters such as Dane Cleaver and Will Young will have to develop partnerships with other good batters such as Bruce and Schmulian. Central Districts are going into this match with a good fast-medium pace bowler Doug Bracewell who is also a handy bat in the lower middle order.

The Central Districts' bowling attack went for a lot of runs against the Northern Knights batters. They gave away more than 500 runs in the Northern Districts' first innings. These bowlers will have to bowl well in this game. After that bad outing against Northern Districts, the Central Stags bowlers did a good job in their game against Canterbury by scoring 186 runs. The bowling attack for Central Districts will be led by the likes of Raymond Toole and Brett Randell. Other bowlers that will look to contribute are Ajaz Patel, Clarkson, and Schmulian.  

Otago Volts

Although the Otago Volts side has managed to win just a single match so far in the competition and that was way back when they played their first game, they have looked like a much better team in recent games. Their batsmen are doing a good job with the bat. Many batters from the top order and middle order are contributing significantly to the team effort. Some lower-order batsmen who are principally bowlers and all-rounders have also contributed to the total. Jacob Duffy and Max Chu are some of them.

The more consistent batters for Otago Volts in the recent games have been Dale Phillips, Glenn Phillips, and Foxcroft. Each of the 3 batters has scored a hundred in the last three games. The Otago Volts skipper Hamish Rutherford will depend on the middle order for delivering crucial partnerships. Rutherford will be expecting a win in this game because the last 3 matches ended in a draw. What they need is a better and more disciplined bowling performance.

Their opposition in this match is not doing too well with the bat in recent times. This is where Otago Volts have to take advantage and hurt the opposition. They have wicket-taking bowlers in the team such as Michael Rae, Michael Rippon, and Jacob Duffy. Duffy was one of the more successful bowlers for Volts in the last few seasons and was leading the bowling charts consistently. He has not been able to make an impact in recent games and has not had much support from the support bowlers. If Otago can get their bowling attack on the right track to get wickets consistently, they will have an upper hand in this encounter.
