Chattogram Challengers

Chattogram Challengers continued to march on their merry ways as they won their third match of the tournament and rose to the top of the ladder. They have played four matches so far in the tournament, more than any other team, and have six points to their name. Their negative net run-rate of -0.147 reflects that the margins of their wins haven't been as much as the margin of their only loss.

The Challengers are coming off a decent show in their recent match, but the show could have been a lot better had their batsmen batted with a bit more responsibility. Bowling first, the likes of Rubel Hossain and Mehedi Hasan Rana did a superb job of restricting the hosts to a modest total. Mehedi Hasan, who returned with the impressive figures of 4 for 23 in his four, was the pick of Chattogram's bowlers.

It should have been a straight-forward chase it didn't happen to be one. While Lendl Simmons held one end firmly, Chattogram Challengers kept losing wickets from the other end. Lendl Simmons dismissal followed by that of Muktar Ali in the subsequent over left them in a spot of bother. However, a solid partnership between Nurul Hasan and Kesrick Williams brought them home with two overs to spare. Nurul Hasan played a handy knock and contributed with 37 runs off just 24 deliveries.

Dhaka Platoon

Dhaka Platoons may have started their campaign in a sluggish manner, but they are looking stronger as ever with a couple of brilliant wins in their last two matches. Dhaka are, however, still at the fourth spot on the ladder and will be looking to rise with a win in their upcoming fixutre. Currently, they have four points to their name in three matches and a win here would push them to the top, provided the other results go their way.

Its been a while since Dhaka Platoons played their last match and coincidetally their last match was against Sylhet Sixers as well. Batting first, their superb on-paper batting lineup proved its potential as almost each of their top six batsmen contributed with useful runs. Anamul Haque, who was dismissed for a duck in the previous match, top-scored for the Platoons with a 42-ball 62 and played a vital role in taking Dhaka's total of 182.

While a total of 182 is always difficult to hunt down, the bowlers still had to be disciplined to contain Sylhet's batsmen. Mashrafe Mortaza and Hasan Mahmud stated off brilliantly as the latter dismissed Andre Fletcher in the second over of the innings. Just when Sylet Sixers were looking to run away with the match with a superb second wicket partnership, Wahab Riaz dismissed Rony Talukdar and a brilliant piece of fielding by Ariful Haque found Johnson Charles out of his ground. Shadab Khan and Mahedi Hasan stranged the Thunder beautifully thereafter as Dhaka Platoons won the match by a comprehensive margin of 24 runs.
