About the Match
Brisbane Heat will come face to face with Chennai Super Kings in its third match of the league on 28 Sep at Ranchi. CSK are topping the Group B table with 8 points whereas Brisbane Heat is yet score a win. It was dismal performance by Brisbane against the Titans in their last match, losing it by a narrow margin of 4 runs. This is a crucial match for Brisbane if they want to keep their semi-final hopes alive. It was a superb performance by CSK in the last match against Sunrisers setting a massive score of 202 runs. Riding high on a wave of success, CSK will look to keep the momentum going in this match too.
Chennai Super Kings:
CSK never fails to surprise as they continue to excel in every match. It was an excellent show put up by Dhoni and his men, as they set a massive target of 203 runs for the Sunrisers. Suresh Raina’s splendid 84 runs off 57 balls, which had 9 fours, built the foundation and Dhoni finished the innings in great style, smashing 63 runs off just 19 balls with 8 sixes! Bowlers Ashwin, Raina and Bravo had a good run taking quick wickets. With an excellent overall performance by the team, the Sunrisers had absolutely no respite in the match. Good team strategy along with combined effort of the players has worked like magic for CSK so far. This team is full of energy and enthusiasm and it’s a difficult one to beat.
The team failed to chase set targets in both the matches so far, the first one against T&T and the next against Titans, though both the totals were well within reach. James Hopes led the chase with a good 37 runs but had no support from the other top order batsmen. It was Christian and Lynn who provided some hope but couldn’t build a good partnership. With a total batting collapse, the team failed to reach the lowly 123 runs. Earlier on, the bowlers did a fantastic job by restricting the Titans to 123. Matthew Gale’s 4 wickets were crucial and Christian, Cutting and Hauritz provided regular breakthroughs. However, the batsmen couldn’t step up their game and failed to win the match. They have to sharpen their skills and come better prepared to face teams like CSK.
Brisbane has had a tough tournament so far and its batsmen will definitely want to do better from now on. With a good mix of talent and spirit, Brisbane Heat will not give up that easily. On the other hand, CSK has tasted success right from the beginning and not lost a game so far in the series. The team morale is high and players are very confident. It is expected to be a one-sided battle between the lesser experienced Brisbane team and group leaders Chennai Super Kings, but in Cricket you never know. However I’ll go with the better team on paper and expect CSK to comfortably prevail over the team from Australia.
