About the Match
The CLT20 title clash is set between Super Kings and the Knight Riders on 4th Oct at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore and the crowds will be anticipating a full-on entertainer here. Both teams won emphatically against their opponents to sail through to the finals and they will be eager to dominate right from the first ball is bowled. Having won 14 matches consecutively, KKR is a formidable force to reckon with but the Super Kings can be ruthless when it comes to executing their strategy to move towards victory.
Chennai Super Kings
Setting up 182 runs as the target against Kings XI in the semi-finals, the batsmen just proved their strength when it comes to delivering the goods with the bat; with the score at 3-41, Faf du Plessis and Bravo put up a valiant 65-run stand for the 4th wicket to steer the innings towards a big score. Bravo, Plessis and Jadeja along with Dhoni and Ashwin at the end are strong assets when it comes to batting under pressure and they will need to build strong partnerships whether in posting a target or while chasing. In the to order, Smith and Brendon McCullum must pull up their socks and work towards setting the foundation of the innings while Raina, who performed well in the earlier games, needs to step up and bring out his best against the KKR bowling attack. On the bowling front, Mohit Sharma is in very good form and has time and again proved his wicket-taking capabilities; along with Ashwin, Nehra, Negi, Jadeja and Raina, this squad can demolish the most established of batsmen to give their team the required advantage. Super Kings have always performed well under pressure and we are most likely to see a fierce contest here.
Kolkata Knight Riders
With Sunil Narine banned for the finals, the team needs to rise above its problems and come together to keep the winning momentum going. Narine has been the leading wicket taker in the tournament and though he is an irreplaceable asset, KKR sure does have other option in bowling. Kuldeep Yadav has fired whenever the team required him to do so and he will be a strong pillar in the finals too; Pathan, Russell and Chawla have contributed with their abilities throughout the series and will need to step up and take wickets at regular intervals. In the batting line-up they have the in-form Utthappa, Kallis and Manish Pandey, who did well in the semi-finals; Gambhir has been successful in the past games and will need to lead from the front to inspire his team-mates. While they won comfortably in the semi-finals by 7 wickets, they need to be alert when it comes to the Super Kings batsmen. Overall, the team will definitely miss the services of Narine but it surely packs a punch when it comes to overcoming challenges and winning.
It has been an action-filled series with both teams doing extremely well to get to the finals; while the Super Kings are a determined side, who have a well-balanced team of established bowlers and batsmen, KKR has emerged as a strong side that doesn’t leave any stone unturned to win matches. Though KKR goes in as clear favorite after winning 14 matches consecutively, Super Kings seem to have a psychological advantage and are more likely to win the coveted title.
