About the Match
This super Sunday is going to witness what we call the clash of the titans. Two teams, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings fight to each other not only to make their place certain for the playoffs, but also to make sure they finish at the top of the table. The match would be played at Swai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on 12th May 2013. So far, the ground has been a fortress for Rajasthan Royals and they’ve won all matches in this season which were played here. Chennai Super Kings have phenomenal away record with only one loss to their name. It would be very interesting to see as the rampaging Chennai takes on a team who has been invincible at home.
Chennai Super Kings:
Chennai is sitting very comfortably at the top of the table with ten wins to their name. Another victory for them would almost ascertain their place in the top two. It was expected of Chennai to do well in this season, but they have performed beyond expectations. Their batting seems to in sublime form with Hussey and Raina in top ten scorers of the tournament. Their new find, Mohit Sharma has been one of the better bowlers in the power-play overs. Chennai is a side cruising towards the title and it would take extraordinary cricket to beat them.
No one expected the Royals to be at such commanding position when the tournament started. As the case with CSK, a win would take them closer to the playoffs which offer double chances to qualify through to the finals. Their home run has been excellent; they’ve won all their matches at home and have got the team combination perfectly right. They’ve been playing flawless cricket and beating the teams with big names. Rahane as got three back to back fifties after being dropped from Indian team and Dravid and Watson have got going as well. Sanju Samson seems to be a very intelligent cricketer and has delivered in every single game. Faulkner is in the race to the purple cap. Rajasthan Royals may not have many big names, but excellent captaincy along with superb teamwork makes them a tough side to beat.
Only two times in five seasons, the sides have been on an unbeaten run at home and both the times, the teams have won on to win the trophy. Can Rajasthan Royals win all eight games at home? This is their last game and against a very difficult contender in a rampaging mood. Rajasthan Royals have been excellent chasers and toss would play a very crucial role. They have a good and an underrated side which is definitely performed way better than expectations. Chennai may try something new as they’ve already qualified. I suspect Royals to just sneak through with a win due their home advantage and excellent batting and bowling form.
