About the Match
No one expected Sunrisers to be in such a strong position before the IPL started. Now that they are there, they take on Chennai Super Kings, a team which was expected to be in top four. The match would be played at MA Chidambaram stadium in Chennai on 26th April. Chennai has gained some momentum with three consecutive victories and Hyderabad has performed consistently to reach where they currently are. The only thing separating them on the Points Table is their NRR and this match would certainly create points difference too unless it is washed out due to weather. The Chennai pitch has helped spinners and both teams feature good exponents of it in Mishra and Ashwin. It would be an exciting game to watch as second place would be at stake in what could be a stirring battle of Cricket.
Chennai Super Kings:
Super Kings are known be slow-starters as far as winning games is concerned, and it has been no different this time as well. Chennai lost its earlier game, but covered the deficit by winning three games back to back. They’ve been a good chasing side in this season, chasing both stiff and modest totals. A monumental role has been played by Mr. Cricket in their wins, be it fielding or batting. Under the captaincy of MSD, this team looks calm under pressure, and more often than not it emerges on top. Chennai is on a roll and it would take something to stop them from rocking and rolling.
Rising above the expectations, Sunrisers are among table toppers, thanks to their bowling unit and Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera. Hyderabad has struggled with its batting, but every time its batting has faltered, bowling has come to the rescue. This game is to be played in Chennai and Perera would not be playing which is definitely a big blow for Sunrisers. Their batting is struggling and opening slot is of huge concern. Cameron White has looked out of sorts and no other batsman has lived up to his reputation. Steyn and co. would have to deliver yet again for SH to topple Chennai in an important game.
It is an important game and a win would make the things a lot easier for either of the sides. Sunrisers were the underdogs, but have surprised one and all. However, they’ve defeated only mediocre sides and the big tests are yet to come. Can they beat a side loaded with match winners? It is possible, but looks rather unlikely due to multiple collective batting failures and forced absence of Thisara Perera. I’d bet on CSK to win this important game.
