About the Match
Dhaka Dynamites are in a position to dictate terms whereas Chittagong Vikings are languishing at the bottom half as far as the points table is concerned. The teams will now lock horns on November 17th at Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong which will be a home venue for Chittagong Vikings. Dynamites continued their winning run as they went on to win their last match with considerable ease. Vikings will have to play out of their skins to cause some damage to Dynamites who have played superbly so far. Their chances of qualification are already looking bleak and a big loss will practically take them to a position of no return. Dhaka Dynamites, on the other hand, will look to strengthen their position at the top of the table.
The purple patch for Dhaka dynamites continues as the massive win against Comilla Victorians helped them to move to the top of the table, thanks to their impressive NRR.
Against Comilla Victorians, Mehedi Maruf got them to a flying start who was well supported by other batsmen in the middle-order. After Kumar Sangakkara perished, Mehedi Maruf and Nasir stitched an 84-run stand for the second wicket which provided a platform for middle and late order batsmen to launch an assault. Shakib provided some lusty blows towards the end to pilot Dhaka to a colossal score of 194.
Their experienced bowling line-up has been one of the major reasons of their success in this edition of BPL so far. Almost all bowlers have contributed beautifully with skipper Shakib Al Hasan leading from the front. Looking at the form the Dynamites are in, it is going to take some serious effort from any team to get past them.
Unlike Dhaka Dynamites, who have been in the rampaging mood, the defeat against Barisal Bulls in their last match makes it three in a row for them. Batting First, Tamim and Jahurul made a strong start taking the team’s total to 46 for 0 at the end of the powerplay. Tamim increased the scoring rate in the middle overs before perishing for a personal score of 75 in the 13th over. Jahurul Islam, who came in as an opener in this match, played a useful knock of 36 runs. Anamul and Smith contributed with their little cameos as well. Vikings went on to score 163 which was at least 20-30 runs short considering the position they were in at 116-0.
Roy and Mohammad Nabi bowled well in powerplay and picked up the wicket of Joshua Cobb. However, that was all that went in well for Vikings before it was too late. Nafees and Malan took apart Vikings bowling which was ordinary by all standards.
Vikings will be looking to get back in the tournament and will be relying on the experience of players like Tamim, Nabi and Smith who are more than capable to get the team out of the bottom part of the table.
Dhaka Dynamites are looking in terrific form whereas the Vikings have seen a steep downfall after a win in their first game of the tournament. Vikings will be hoping for a change of fortunes with the change in venue. However, considering the form the Dynamites are in, it is certainly going to be a tough ask for Vikings, and therefore I'd place my money on Dynamites.
