About the Match
After losing the opener against Cantons, City Kaitak made a comeback by winning the recent match against Gladiators; they will now take on Jaguars, who lost their last game against United, on 11th March at Mong Kok. Kaitak chased down 156 runs comfortably after the top-order clicked well and got the scoreboard ticking. On the other hand, Jaguars, faced with a challenging target of 217 against United, lost the match by 33 runs unable to continue with their winning performance from earlier match against Gladiators.
Tillakaratne Dilshan, Aizaz Khan, Coetzer and Harte performed well with the bat against Gladiators to chase down 156 runs and win the match by 6 wickets. Dilshan, who had failed to fire in the game against Cantons getting dismissed at zero, came to form as he posted 38 runs; captain Aizaz Khan also made amends by contributing with 36 off 28. The batting line-up also has players like Nicholas Pooran and Chris Jordan, who add stability to the middle-order, and can help them post a good total.
Jordan has scored a brilliant 75 off just 37 runs to take the innings to 199 against Cantons; the top-scorer had been Coetzer with his smashing 87 off 57, but their efforts went in vain as the bowlers put up a dismal show and failed to defend the score. Bowlers like Waqas Barkat, Niaz Ali and Nadeem Ahmed had given away easy runs and although Jordan and Emrit took a wicket each, they couldn’t stop the opposition from hitting the winning runs in the 15th over itself.
However, the squad came back with a good bowling show in the recent match against Gladiators to restrict them to 155; speedster Chris Jordan finished with 3-25 while Emrit took 2 wickets to contain the opponents. Fast-bowler Aizaz Khan and English spinner Buckley were among the wicket takers and they can combine well to outwit Jaguars batting line-up too.

Jonathan Foo displayed his batting skills against United by posting a well-made 77 but the others couldn’t support him well to chase down the massive target of 217. Nizakat Khan, James Franklin and all-rounders Sammy and Botha tried to fight it out but in vain, leading to a loss by 33 runs. Earlier, the bowlers weren’t effective against United batsmen with players like Botha and Caddy giving away easy runs; although Naveed and Franklin took 3 wickets between them in an economical way, the opponents went on to score 216 batting first.
In the opening match against Gladiators though, bowlers Imran Arif and Caddy had taken 3 wickets each to defend a modest 145 successfully. Johan Botha had also contributed with a wicket and helped them win the match by 27 runs.
They have had a mixed run so far but will be eager to bounce back before it’s too late; with a good mix of all-rounders, who can do well with bat and ball, Jaguars can prove to be a tough nut to crack.
Kaitak comes here at the back of a win and would be determined to continue with the momentum; on the other hand, Jaguars, who lost their previous game, will fight hard to redeem themselves. The contest could throw up some challenges for both teams but we feel that Kaitak with its in-form batting line-up is better placed to emerge victorious on Saturday
