CK vs NK Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 05, 2020

We have a bottom of the table clash up next in the Super Smash as the Canterbury Kings get ready to take on the Northern Knights. These two teams occupy the bottom two places in the Super Smash 2019-20 table right now and face a very difficult task of moving into the playoff qualification zone.
Convincing losses for both the teams in their most recent matches puts them in a similar boat when it comes to current form. Winning this match is going to be especially crucial for the Canterbury Kings as they have played a couple of matches lesser than everyone else and have a better theoretical chance of moving up the standings.
Canterbury Kings vs Northern Knights Super Smash 2019-20 is going to be played at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch on the 5th of January, 2020.
CK vs NK Team Previews
Canterbury Kings
A fantastic inning by Chad Bowes in the previous match was not enough for the Canterbury Kings to win against the Auckland Aces. Bowes scored 90 off just 42 deliveries and was supported by his opening partner Jack Boyle who scored 69 as well.
The pair of them helped the Canterbury Kings post a total of 194 against the Auckland Aces but that did not turn out to be enough on the night.
There is a lot for the Canterbury Kings to take from that match as they put in a fantastic batting performance. It was their misfortune that they ran into Guptill and company on a night when the ball was flying to all corners of the ground.
Chad Bowes, Jack Boyle, Stephen Murdoch, Cole McConchie, Cam Fletcher, and Andrew Ellis make a decent batting lineup on paper. Unfortunately for them, this lineup has not been performing as it should. The two fifties in the previous match were the only two that the entire team has managed in Super Smash 2019-20.
Bowes and Boyle have over 150 runs each but only one other player has a tally over 60 runs.
A couple of batsmen need to find their feet in this match otherwise the task ahead is tough.
Cole McConchie is the highest wicket-taker for the side with six wickets and has got some decent support from Blake Coburn. Overall, though, the economy rates for the bowlers have been high and they have not been getting enough wickets.

Northern Knights
The Northern Knights were smashed to pieces by the Wellington Firebirds in their previous match. They had managed to defeat the Firebirds just a couple of days back but were found out in the return fixture. Now, they face a tricky game against the Canterbury Kings.
We think the Northern Knights definitely have a stronger batting lineup than the Canterbury Kings. Tim Siefert has over 200 runs to his name while Daryl Mitchell, Brett Hampton, Dean Brownlie, and Joe Carter have been able to provide some useful runs as well.
Anton Devcich has been the disappointment of this tournament. He is going through a very rough patch and as one of the most important players for the Northern Knights, his poor form is dragging down the entire team.
The Knights have the batting to be able to outscore the Kings but their recent form is a bit worrying.
A similar story unfolds when we look at the bowling attack. A bowling unit that has Scott Kuggeleijn, Ish Sodhi, and Anton Devcich in it should be racking up victories much more often than it has been. Daryl Mitchell is also a New Zealand international and offers some very good support alongside Anurag Verma and Brett Randall.
The Northern Knights certainly have a squad capable of winning this match. The current challenge for them seems to be more mental than anything else.

Pitch and Conditions
Excellent weather has been forecast in Christchurch for this match. There is no threat of rain and some very pleasant conditions for cricket are expected. The Hagley Oval at Christchurch is not as high-scoring a ground as some of the other ones in New Zealand.
The only completed game here saw a total of 129 being scored in the first inning and then being chased down in the 19th over.
We think we can expect some more runs this time around but a total of around 165-170 seems to be a good one at this venue.

CK vs NK Betting Tips
These are two teams that are struggling to find their best form. We have to go by the strengths of the squad on paper and that is where the Northern Knights have a big advantage. The batting lineup has more depth and quality in while the international experience in the bowling attack gives it the edge as well.
