The Super Smash 2021-22 is about to come to an end. We have the Eliminator first up, to be played between the Canterbury Kings and the Wellington Firebirds. These are the two teams that finished second and third in the group stage respectively and absolutely deserve their place in the playoffs.
The cricket betting sites are all favoring the Canterbury Kings to win this match. Interestingly, three out of the previous four matches played between the Canterbury Kings and the Wellington Firebirds have been won by the Firebirds.
Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Canterbury Kings vs Wellington Firebirds Super Smash 2021-22. The match is going to be played at the University Oval, Dunedin on the 27th of January 2022.
The Canterbury Kings are in great form and have been been very consistent this entire season of the Super Smash. Seven wins out of the ten matches that they have played in the group stage is an excellent return for the team.
Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham have joined the team and immediately made it a stronger batting lineup. in fact, the team was performing quite well with the bat even before having the services of its New Zealand national players. Fletcher and Bowes are the two other batsmen that are in great form and will play a massive role for the Kings in this match.
There is a lot of experience and power in the lineup for sure.
Todd Astle, Matt Henry, Cole McConchie, and Ed Nuttall round out a very strong bowling attack. They will now also have the benefit of being able to turn to Daryll Mitchell as the all-rounder if the need arises.
The Canterbury Kings are a strong side with a well-balanced squad and most of its leading players in fine form.
Chad Bowes, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Leo Carter, Cole McConchie, Cameron Fletcher, Henry Shipley, Matt Henry, Todd Astle, Ed Nuttall, Matthew Hay.
The Wellington Firebirds go into this match as the clear underdogs, however, they will be well aware of their recent excellent record against the Canterbury Kings. The Firebirds do not seem to be as well-balanced as the Canterbury Kings.
The Firebirds are a bit more dependent on their batting firepower to cover up a few flaws. Finn Allen and Michael Bracewell are the two players that performed the best for the Firebirds this season. Both of them have well over 200 runs (Bracewell is just short of 400 runs) and have scored three fifties each. Bracewell also has one century to his name this season as well. The problem seems to be in the depth of the batting lineup. If Allen and Bracewell get out early, the Firebirds are going to be in a lot of trouble.
Jimmy Neesham and Davon Conway have joined the lineup and will play an important role, however, they have not been in good touch so far. Despite the lack of performances from Neesham and Conway, their presence could tilt the scales in favor of the Firebirds.
Sears, van Beek, Younghusband, and Ravindra are the four bowlers that will lead the bowling attack.
The Wellington Firebirds are a stronger team for this post-season than it has been during the group stage. We think there is a real betting opportunity available here.
Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Michael Bracewell, Tom Blundell, James Neesham, Rachin Ravindra, Nathan Smith, Logan van Beek, Peter Younghusband, Ben Sears, Hamish Bennett.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first.

The conditions are expected to be quite good on match day. There is no rain predicted and the pitch should an absolute belter. The University Oval almost always offers up a pitch with a nice amount of pace in it and a good amount of bounce as well. That will translate to some good batting conditions and we expect scores to reach above 180 with ease.
We are going to bet on the underdog in this match. The Wellington Firebirds are strengthened by the addition of Devon Conway and Jimmy Neesham to the lineup. Their batting is quite strong and the bowling lineup is not too bad either. The Firebirds have won three out of the previous four matches they have played against the Kings and we think they could continue their domination over them in this match.
Bet on the Wellington Firebirds to win.
