CK vs WF Match Prediction - Nov 26, 2021

There may be a few Test matches happening around the globe, but the T20 season is back upon us. With Women's Big Bash League in its concluding stage, the fans will now be looking forward to Big Bash League and the Super Smash. The Super Smash is all set to begin on 26th November 2021 with Canterbury Kings taking on Wellington Firebirds in the opening contest of the tournament.

The tournament will feature 32 matches being played among six Kiwi sides with almost each match promising to be a nail-biting encounter. Top three sides after the double round-robin stage will progress to the next round and all six teams will be keen to get off to a positive start.

Canterbury Kings and Wellington Firebirds were the top two teams in the last season and they both promise to produce some fantastic cricket this year as well. With New Zealand touring India, however, Kiwi red-ball international players will not be available for the first few matches. This upcoming match between the two will be played at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on Friday.

Canterbury Kings

The memories of last year's finale will still be fresh in the Kings' minds as they ended up one win short from the title, which would have been disappointing after playing so well in the group stage. They ended up at the third spot on the ladder after scoring 24 points coupled with a net run rate of 0.079. They qualified for the finale by defeating Central Districts in the virtual semi-final.

Going by the history, the Kings are one of the most consistent sides in New Zealand domestic circuit. They have won the title only once, but have more often than not found themselves in the top half of the ladder. They will be looking to go all the way this year and they certainly have the side to do so.

Although they have some young players coming into the side, they do have a good number of players having enough big-match experience. The opening pair of Ken McLure and Chad Bowes will hold the key to their fortunes, especially given the way they did in the 2020 season. With the likes of Colin McConchie and Jack Boyle available in the middle-order, their batting looks good as well. Their bowling arguably looks a lot stronger than their batting and that is what got them to the knockouts last year too. The likes of Ed Nuttall, Matt Henry, and Todd Astle are seasoned campaigners and can keep even the best in the business in check.

All in all, Canterbury Kings may be missing a few of their key players, they still have a side good enough to beat any other side on their day. If they are able to play to their potential, beating them is going to be incredibly difficult.

Canterbury Kings Playing 11

Chad Bowes, Ken McClure, Jack Boyle, Cole McConchie, Cameron Fletcher, Henry Shipley, Matthew Hay, Will Williams, Blake Coburn, Ed Nuttall, Matt Henry.

Wellington Firebirds

Wellington Firebirds not only won the title last time, but they also ended up topping the league stage. They defeated Canterbury Kings by five wickets and will be looking to repeat the feat and start off their campaign on a happy note. Last year, they were near flawless in the league stage as they won nine and lost just one from a total of ten matches they they played.

The likes of Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, James Neesham, and Michael Bracwell were key to their title win last year, but with New Zealand touring India, they will be without their full-strength side. Having said that, they still have some of New Zealand's premier white-ball players in Finn Allen, Michael Bracwewell, Hamish Bennett, and Logan van Beek.

On paper, Wellington Firebirds are rich in talent and appear to be having almost all their bases covered. However, they do lack experience with most of their experienced players unavailable. Their youngsters will need to step up in this upcoming match and if they can do that, they should be able to continue from where they left last year.

Wellington Firebirds Playing 11

Finn Allen, Luke Georgeson, Nicholas Greenwood, Michael Bracewell, Tim Robinson, Jamie Gibson, Nathan Smith, Logan van Beek, Peter Younghusband, Ben Sears, Hamish Bennett.

CK vs WF Betting Tips

This is the first match of the tournament and there is no better feeling than getting off to a winning start. Both sides will be far from their full-strength lineups and this could result in an interesting match-up between two relatively young sides. Keeping the on-paper combinations and the other above stated factors into consideration, betting on a Wellington Firebirds win should be the way to go here.
