Colombo Stars

The Colombo Stars may have won their previous match by 9 runs but we think they would be a bit concerned with the form of their batters. Niroshan DIckwella is the only player to have hit a fifty in LPL 2022 so far for the Stars and there is not a single batter who has hit more than 2 sixes. 

Senior players like Angelo Matthews, Dinesh Chandmal, and Ravi Bopara have all struggled. Neither have they scored enough runs nor have they shown the intent to score quickly. The batting department needs to improve quickly because the bowlers will not be able to bail them out every single time. 

The bowling unit for the Stars is quite good and is led by the experience Suranga Lakmal. Dominic Drakes and Naveen ul Haq have both made a name for themselves as T20 specialists. They have started the LPL well for the Colombo Stars.

This is a pretty beatable team and has some glaring weaknesses.

Galle Gladiators

The Galle Gladiators batted quite poorly in their previous match to end up with a small total that their bowlers could not defend. The batting has failed for the Gladiators in both matches even though it has some excellent players. We think the team management needs to be a bit more dynamic and change the batting order a bit. 

Someone like Imad Wasim has been scoring runs down the order and can be given a role up the order. Apart from Wasim, Kusal Mendis, Azam Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed give the Galle Gladiators a fair bit of batting firepower. 

The Galle Gladiators also have some excellent bowlers in their lineup. Wahab Riaz may be struggling with injury but if he is available for this match, he is someone to watch out for. His three overs went for 22 runs but he created a lot of chances. 

Nuwan Pradeep, Imad Wasim, and Nuwan Thushara form a pretty good bowling unit with respect to the standards in the LPL.
