The Lanka Premier League is about to start and it always promises to throw up some exciting new youngsters. The Colombo Stars and the Kandy Falcons will be playing their first match against each other. There are just five teams in the LPL and the tournamernt itself is quite short.
Getting off to a good start is essential. The cricket betting sites have the Colombo Stars as the slight favorites heading into this match.
Colombo Stars are led by Angelo Matthews, one of the legends of Sri Lanka cricket but not really a part of the current setup in white ball cricket. Matthews has struggled with fittness and should be counted as a batter more than an all-rounder even though he may bowl a few overs with the new ball.
Charith Asalanka, Dinesh Chandimal, Niroshan Dickwella and Ravi Bopara are the leading batters in this lineup. That is a pretty good batting lineup with a lot of contemporary players that have been in good form. Bopara is at the end of his career but he can contribute as well.
Among the bowlers, Naveen ul Haq, Kasun Rajitha, Romario Shepherd, and Suranga Lakmal add a lot of depth. The squad that the Colombo Stars have assembled is quite deep and they should be able to put out a very competitve playing eleven.

We are very interested to see how the Kandy Falcons fare in LPL 2022. They are led by Wanindu Hasaranga and have Pathum NIssanks in their lineup as well. These are two of the best young cricketers that Sri Lanka has produced in a long while.
There are some other very promising youngsters in the lineup as well but the kind of experience that the COlombo Stars have is missing. Kamindu Mendis, Matheesha Pathirana, and Chamika Karunaratne are all players that have played international cricket but are still finding their permanent places.
Najibullah Zadran, Fabian Allen, and Andre Fletcher are excellent overseas options. Once again, we would not call these players as the best of the best but they are certainly capable of playing a few match-winning innings.

We expect a high-scoring match between the Colombo Stars and the Kandy Falcons. The weather forecast is clear and the pitch is expected to be at its flattest. With a blazingly fast outfield in the mix as well, we should have a lot of runs being scored. Something around 170 should be seen as par.
We think the Colombo Stars have a great chance of winning this match. They have a deeper batting lineup and their bowling attack is also better-balanced. There is undoubted individual genius in the Kandy Falcons lineup but we still think there are a lot of gaps and weaknesses that can be exploited.
