We are down to the final few matches in the Momentum One Day Cup and things still look far from settled. While Dolphins and Lions look good to qualify for the next round, the battle for the remaining places between the four remaining teams is intense. With a string of good performances in their last few matches, Knights managed to rise a spot, leaving Cobras at the bottom of the table. The upcoming contest of the tournament is to be played between Knights and Cobras and the winner here will get into a decent position, as far as progression to the next round is concerned. The match is to be played at Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn, on 7th March.
Just opposite to Knights, the Cobras got off to a reasonably good start, but failed to build on it. After winning two of their first three matches, the Cobras have failed to build the momentum. They are coming off four back to back losses and would need some individual brilliance to take them out of the pit they dug for themselves.
Coincidentally, the last match the Cobras played was against the Knights and it was a while ago. Played at Kimberley on 22nd February, the match didn't prove to be fruitful for the Cobras as they failed to defend a total of 258 in 42 overs. Barring Zubayr Hamza and Jonathan Bird, none of their batsmen seem to be in the kind of form they'd want to be in.
On the bowling front as well, they appeared to be losing steam when they last took the field. However, they are coming off a big break and fatigue should no longer be an issue. We expect Cobras to come hard at the Knights. On paper, the Cobras are a pretty well-balanced unit. However, they are low on confidence and beating Knights is not going to be easy for them.

Knights got off to the worst possible start in the tournament and were languishing at the bottom of the table for most part of the first half of the tournament. So poor was their start that they had to wait for five matches to put a win against their name in the points table. As it stands now, they are at the fifth spot with ten points to their name and a net run-rate of -1.245.
After a dismal show in their first six matches, Knights' batsmen joined the party as the Knights chased down a tall total against the Titans. Given the form there batsmen had been in, Knights were never in the game after Titans had set the total of 307 in the first innings. Howeer, Andreis Gous looked in sublime touch as he single-handedly walked the chase. He scored 163 runs off 145 deliveries and got ample support from Keegan Petersen and Grant Mokoena. Wandile Makwetu played a blinder towards the end of the innings and made things easy for Gous and the Knights. He slammed 47 off just 30 deliveries. Knigths eventually won the match by six wickets and with eight deliveries to spare.
Earlier with the ball, it was an underpar performance by Knights' bowlers, something which we hadn't seen from their bowlers in the tournament thus far. Barring Mbulelo Budaza and Ottniel Baartman, all their bowlers were expensive as Titans found it easy to score off them. Budaza was brilliant and he returned with impressive numbers of 5 for 44 in 9.5 overs. Baartman, although was expensive, did pretty well and picked up three mprotant wickets.

Considering how the things have gone so far, it is difficult to pick between two sides. The two sides occupy the bottom-most spots on the points table and the winner of this match will certainly strengthen their chances to qualify for the next round. While the two teams look matched on paper, Knights have done better in recent matches and have momentum with them. Therefore, we think that they are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming encounter.
