CS vs AA Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 29, 2018
Super Smash 2018-19 has got off to a good start, a few weather concerns notwithstanding, and we have seen some excellent cricket so far. The teams of the Super Smash T20 League seem to have gotten bunched closer together and should provide for an exciting tournament to be played out.
The next match of the Super Smash 2018-19 will see the Central Districts Stags take on the Auckland Aces. The Central Stags have won their opening match of the Burger King Super Smash while the Auckland Aces had to share points due to rain washing out their opening fixture.
The Central Stags have started the tournament well and it will interesting to see if they are able to maintain the same momentum against a highly fancied Auckland Aces side.
CS vs AA Team Previews
Central Districts
The Central Stags played an excellent game of cricket to beat the defending champions of the Super Smash in their opening match. That win was brought about largely due to a fantastic inning of 88 from their captain, Tom Bruce.
Bruce smashed six boundaries and five hits over the fence as he struck his runs at a strike rate of 169.23.
The inning was even more remarkable because the Central Stags kept on losing wickets throughout the inning. They lost three wickets within the powerplay and were 41 for 4 after 7.2 overs.
A partnership between Bruce and Bracewell followed by one between Bruce and NOema-Barnett helped the Central Stags get over the line. Safe to say, the Central Stags would have had very little chance of overhauling their target if Tom Bruce had got out early.
The Central Stags are up against a very strong batting side in the Auckland Aces and knows it must get its own batting order firing. Players like George Worker, Will Young, and Dane Cleaver are very capable T20 players.
We like George Worker at the top of the order a lot. He was in the New Zealand national side not too long ago and will be hoping to make his way back into the scheme of things with some solid performances in the Burger King Super Smash 2018-19.
Worker was quite good with the ball as well, sending down two overs for 18 and picking two wickets. The standout bowler for the Central Stags was Rance who gave away just 22 runs in his four overs. Tickner took three wickets and was in the thick of things as well.
Central Districts Playing 11
Dane Cleaver, George Worker, Will Young, Tom Bruce, Josh Clarkson, Doug Bracewell, KN Barnett, Ben Wheeler, Seth Rance, Felix Murray, Blair Tickner.
Auckland Aces
A blockbuster Auckland Aces squad was made to cool its heels on the sidelines as rain pelted down in its opening match. Everyone, including the organizers of the Super Smash T20, must be hoping that the players get a chance to show their stuff on the field this time around.
The battery of superstars in the Auckland Aces side makes them the favorite in any match they are going to play.
Glenn Phillips leads the batting for the Auckland Aces and he is our early pick to be the highest scorer of the Burger King Super Smash 2018-19. He has been in smashing form and has scored runs in the CPL against high-quality attacks as well.
His position in the New Zealand team looks settled and this new found confidence should allow him to play his game without the fear of failure. Proven performers such as Colin Munro, Mark Chapman, and Sam Curran join Phillips in making the Auckland Aces a formidable batting side.
Their bowling is very impressive as well.
Sam Curran is a test level all-rounder who is quite capable of contributing with both bat and ball while Lockie Ferguson is one of the most underrated T20 bowlers in the world. Ferguson had an excellent season of the Vitality Blast in England and was picked up in the IPL auction as well.
We think his stock is about to really soar. The Auckland Aces have also added Mitchell McClenaghan to their side to boost the bowling stocks even further. A couple of capable spinners led by Tarun Netula help round out the Aces squad.
Auckland Aces Playing 11
Colin Munro, Martin Guptill, Mark Chapman, Robert O'Donnell, Craig Cachopa, GD Phillips, Ronnie Hira, Lockie Ferguson, Benjamin Lister, Matthew Quinn, W Somerville.

Pitch and Conditions
The Burger King Super Smash 2018-19 match between the Central Districts Stags and the Auckland Aces is going to be played at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth. The weather forecast for New Plymouth is pretty decent at the moment with only a 10% chance of rain predicted.
The pitch should be good for batting as it is in most places around New Zealand. We should have a very high scoring match is we get some warm and sunny conditions to play in.
CS vs AA Betting Tips
It is difficult to predict how a side will play before it has played a single match in the tournament. The Auckland Aces are filled with potential but they are yet to play a single ball. The Central Districts Stags, on the other hand, have already won one match against the defending champions of the Super Smash.
The Central Stags have also lost just once to the Auckland Aces in the last four completed matches. Still, considering the depth in both batting and bowling, we think the Aces will win this contest.
Back the Auckland Aces to win.
