CS vs CK Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Jan 19, 2019

The Canterbury Kings have a had a tough time in the Super Smash T20 this season. They are one of only two teams where rain has not caused a washout and so have had plenty of opportunities to show their talent on the ground.

So far, though, out of the six matches that they have played, they have lost five and are currently at the bottom of the table.

The Canterbury Kings are going to be taking on the Central Districts Stags in this match. The Central Stags are currently second on the Super Smash League table thanks to having won three of their six matches.

The Stags are separated by the trailing pack by just one win and so cannot afford to take things easy at all. This will be the second straight match that the two teams are playing against each other.

CS vs CK Team Previews

Central Districts

The Canterbury Kings have struggled in the Super Smash because of their poor batting. Tom Latham was supposed to be the player that carried the Canterbury Kings batting on his back but he has so far failed to fire. For a player of Latham’s quality and with the fight for places in the national side, this is not a good sign.

Tom Latham will want to hit form and just send a reminder to the selectors ahead of the New Zealand vs India One Day Internationals.

Bowes is the current highest scorer for the Canterbury Kings in the Super Smash with 142 runs to his name. He is 8th in the list of top run-getters of the Super Smash and the only batsman from Canterbury Kings to be in the top-10.

Ellis with 101 runs is 15th in that list. This shows the struggle batting has been for the Canterbury Kings this season. There are no easy fixes but to hope that Latham can find form to help support the efforts of Bowes and Ellis in the middle.

Things are not so bleak in the bowling thanks to the emergence of Kyle Jamieson. He is the leading wicket-taker of the Super Smash with 13 wickets to his name and has the only five-wicket haul this season.

Jamieson has bowled with pace and fire to rip through sides. He is now joined by Matt Henry and Todd Astle to give the Canterbury Kings bowling a lot of depth. We believe Matt Henry is one of the most talented bowlers going around in New Zealand cricket and he is another one to watch out for with the World Cup 2019 approaching.

It looks quite clear that the Canterbury Kings are going to win matches on the back of their bowling rather than with their batting.

Canterbury Kings

The Central Stags are an extremely strong side and one of the favorites to win the Super Smash this year. They have also been struggling with runs from their top order but Tom Bruce in the middle has been quite good.

George Worker and Will Young are extremely talented players but have not been getting the kind of runs that are expected of them. Young has 114 runs in five innings with a best of 43 while Worker has just 77 runs in this season of the Super Smash.

These numbers are not good enough while batting at the top of the order. George Worker was a part of the New Zealand national side not too long ago but seems to have regressed a little. He has the talent to turn things around in our opinion but is currently not looking like a good candidate to bet on.

Tom Bruce has 216 runs in five innings and is in terrific form. He has hit 22 fours and 8 sixes this season and is scoring his runs at a strike rate of 150.00. There is no doubt that Bruce is the biggest wicket in the Central Stags right now.

With players like Doug Bracewell and Dane Cleaver in the side as well, it is just a matter of time before someone steps up to give Tom Bruce the support he needs.

The bowling lineup of the Central Stags is very good. It is led by Tickner and Wheeler, both of whom are in the top-5 wicket takers this season. They are now going to have Seth Rance, Ajaz Patel, and Doug Bracewell in the side to help in the bowling as well.

This is an all-international quality attack that will be tough for any side to face.

Canterbury Kings Playing 11

CS vs CK Betting Tips

The Central Stags have won four out of the last five matches played against the Canterbury Kings. They also seem to have a stronger batting lineup and a bowling unit that can match the Canterbury Kings. We think they should win this match.
