The most under-rated and under-sold T20 tournament held in a major cricketing nation is about to begin. We are talking about the Super Smash, of course, and it begins with a match between the Central Districts Stags taking on the Northern Knights.
The Central Stags are the defending champions of the Super Smash and would love to get their campaign off to a solid start once again.
Super Smash 2019-20 may be under-rated but it is not lacking in quality. Every season, the competition between the teams is tough and shows the amount of quality that New Zealand has in its domestic structure, which is remarkable for a country with a small population to draw from.
Central Districts vs Northern Knights Super Smash 2019-20 is going to be played at McLean Park, Napier on the 13th of December 2019.
The Central Districts Stags are going to be missing some of its best international players, as are most teams because New Zealand is currently on tour in Australia. That being said, it still has some very good players in its squad.
George Worker and Tom Bruce are going to lead the batting charge for the Central Stags. Both these players have a lot of experience of playing T20 cricket and they have both played at the highest level of the game as well.
Not only are they powerful enough to cause damage with the bat but they are also going to contribute with the ball as well. Josh Clarkson and Jayden Lennox are the other players in the squad that should make the final eleven.
The bowling attack is filled with people that have performed admirably at the domestic level for a fair amount of time now. Kieren Noema-Barnett, Ajaz Patel, Christian Leopard, and Ben Wheeler are all expected to start in the opening game for the Central Stags.
This squad gives the Central Stags a lot of bowling options although its batting seems a bit on the thinner side with the internationals missing.
George Worker, Dane Cleaver, Christian Leopard, Tom Bruce, Josh Clarkson, KN Barnett, Willem Ludick, Ben Wheeler, Ryan Watson, Ajaz Patel, Seth Rance.
The Northern Knights are also going to be without some of their best players but they have not been hit as hard as the Central Stags because of the New Zealand international team commitments.
They have some well-known T20 figures in their midst such as Anton Devcich, Scott Kuggeleijn, Tim Siefert, and Ish Sodhi in the side. There are two high-quality batsmen and two very good bowlers to begin with and they form a strong core of the team.
The Northern Knights also have Dean Brownlie and Daniel Flynn to call upon in the batting department which gives them a fair bit of depth. The batting certainly appears to be in better shape than the Central Stags for this match.
Matthew Fisher, Anurag Verma, and Brett Randall will add to the bowling attack and help form a pretty potent attack.
We love the balance that this side has on paper and think it should translate to some pretty solid performances as well.
Dean Brownlie, Anton Devcich, Joe Carter, Brett Hampton, Daryl Mitchell, Daniel Flynn, Peter Bocock, Scott Kuggeleijn, IS Sodhi, Anurag Verma, Matthew Fisher.
The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first because the pitch is not going to deteriorate at all.

A clear and dry day has been forecast in Napier for match-day. We should have a good start to the Super Smash 2019-20 without any threat of rain. The pitch in Napier is excellent for batting, as most pitches are in New Zealand nowadays.
We tend to have some of the highest-scoring matches in New Zealand and so a par score could be somewhere around 180 for this match.
Dream11 tips and Dream11 prediction for Central Districts Stags vs Northern Knights
The Central Stags are the defending champions but this is a fresh season and past performances don’t carry much weight. As the squads are placed for the current upcoming match, we fancy the Northern Knights more.
The Knights have a better-balanced side with a lot of international experience at its core. There are a number of power-hitting options and some very good bowlers to help attack the Central Stags with.
Bet on the Northern Knights to win.
