CS vs OV Match Prediction - Jan 11, 2020

The group stage of Super Smash 2019-20 is about to come to an end and there is still some room for reshuffling among the teams. This match is going to be the last in the group stage for the Central Districts Stags while the Otago Volts still have one more to play after this one. Both the teams are in the qualification zone right now and it will take something dramatic for them to miss out on the Super Smash playoffs.

Both the teams, though, would like to leave nothing to chance and ensure that they lock up a place with a win in this match.

Central Districts Stags vs Otago Volts Super Smash 2019-20 is going to be played at the University Oval, Dunedin on the 11th of January 2020.

CS vs OV Team Previews

Central Districts

Dane Cleaver batted very well in the previous match for the Central Districts Stags and ensured that there was no stopping his side from getting a big total. Some valuable contributions from Tom Bruce and Josh Clarkson were very handy as well.

The Central Stags have been in good form this season but have just struggled a bit with the consistency in their batting. The lineup is very strong with players like George Worker, Christian Leopard, Kieran-Noema Barnett in there as well.

The Stags certainly have the side to out-bat the Otago Volts.

Blair Tickner has been the standout bowler for the Central Stags this season. He picked up four wickets in the previous match to add to his tally and gave away just 26 runs in his four overs. Ben Wheller and Kieran-Noema Barnett have also been very good this season.

Seth Rance and Ajaz Patel are quality bowlers to round out the bowling attack.

The Central Stags are a well-balanced side in decent form coming into this match. They also have the motivation of needing a win in their last group match.

Central Districts Playing 11

George Worker, Christian Leopard, Dane Cleaver, Tom Bruce, KN Barnett, Josh Clarkson, Willem Ludick, Ben Wheeler, Ajaz Patel, Seth Rance, Blair Tickner.

Otago Volts

Two losses in the last two matches for the Otago Volts have just slowed them down a bit in their quest to lock up a playoff berth. They were smashed by ten wickets in the previous match and would love to forget that game in a hurry.

Hamish Rutherford and Neil Broom have been quite good for the Otago Volts at the top of the order. The problem arises when they fail as has happened in the recent matches. Neil Broom started the Super Smash with a run of high-scores and will be keen to finish the tournament in a similar manner.

Dean Foxtrot scored 82 in the previous match and Anaru Kitchen scored 42 as well. These innings will help the Otago Volts have more confidence in their middle order and plan their attack a bit better.

The bowling unit had a horror game in the previous match as they gave up 169 runs without picking up a single wicket. Dean Foxtrot, Anaru Kitchen, Jacob Duffy, and Michael Rae are the regular bowlers in the lineup.

We don’t think this is the strongest bowling attack a lot depends on Jacob Duffy. The Otago Volts have won almost all of their matches this season on the back of their batting. To expect the bowling to suddenly transform itself is not very realistic.

Otago Volts Playing 11

Hamish Rutherford, NT Broom, Mitchell Renwick, Nick Kelly, Dean Foxcroft, Anaru Kitchen, Joshua Finnie, MJ Rippon, Jacob Duffy, Matthew Bacon, Michael Rae.

Pitch and Conditions

The weather is expected to be a bit cloudy but there are no significant chances of rain that have been predicted. We should be able to get a complete match without any interruptions. As far as the pitch goes, the University Oval always provides a good batting wicket where plenty of runs can be had.

We expect teams will want a score of at least 180 batting first.

CS vs OV Betting Tips

Both the teams have a decent batting lineup and are pretty evenly matched on paper. The current form of the batsmen is better on the Central Stags side. Their bowling is also a shade better than the Otago Volts. The Stags were able to beat the Volts in their match earlier this season and we think a similar result is likely this time around as well.

Bet on the Central Districts Stags to win.
