The Centra Districts and the Otago Volts are right next to each other on the league table and there are just two victories the difference between them but the teams have looked further apart in quality.
This next match is an important match for both teams. The Central Districts want to win and put pressure on the two teams above it while the Otago Volts want to win and put some distance between themselves and the trailing pack.
This could be a very interesting contest, indeed.
Central Districts vs Otago Volts Super Smash 2020-21 is going to be played at Pukekura Park, New Plymouth on the 18th of January 2021.
Central Districts were a strong team when their international stars were away and have only become stronger with the return of Ross Taylor to the fold. Their batting is led by George Worker, Will Young, and now Ross Taylor.
Doug Bracewell in the middle-order is also an excellent player that can contribute with the bat or bowl his full quota of overs.
There is enough power, depth, and good current form to make the Central Districts a formidable batting unit.
Ajaz Patel and Blair Tickner lead the bowling unit with support from Doug Bracewell, Kieran Noema-Barnett, and Joey Field.
Dane Cleaver, Ross Taylor, Tom Bruce, Will Young, George Worker, Doug Bracewell, Josh Clarkson, KN Barnett, Joey Field, Ajaz Patel, Blair Tickner.
The Otago Volts have just tailed off a bit after starting strong and this would be concerning to them. This is not the time in the competition to be getting into a losing rut and so two losses in their two previous matches would be causing some grief.
The Volts must hope that their leading batsmen are able to get back into the runs quickly. Hamish Rutherford, Neil Broom, and Nick Kelly are the top-3 for the Volts right now. Broom and Rutherford have had a quiet time in this season of the Super Smash and it looks like Kelly has some serious work ahead of him as well.
Llew Johnson, Mitch Renwick, Anaru Kitchen, and Michael Rippon form a decent lower-order but the bulk of the work has to be done by the top-3.
Jacob Duffy, Mitchell McClenaghan, Michael Rae, and Michael Rippon are the players that comprise the bowling attack. Once again, the onus is going to be on McClenaghan and Duffy to lead the way and make it easier for the others.
Hamish Rutherford, Nick Kelly, NT Broom, Mitchell Renwick, Llew Johnson, Anaru Kitchen, MJ Rippon, MJ Mcclenaghan, Jacob Duffy, Michael Rae, Nathan Smith.
The team that wins the toss is likely to want to field first as that has been the trend in the tournament so far.

There has been a lot of rain in the area but the forecast for match day is pretty decent. There are going to be some clouds around but hopefully, that will not stop the cricket from being played.
The pitch is expected to be a bit on the slower side and may have some spongy bounce. The run-scoring may be a bit difficult here as compared to some of the other venues we have seen.
The two teams are very evenly matched but we think that Central Districts are the team to back in this contest. They have a pretty good batting lineup that has more power than the Volts. The Central Districts bowling attack is also capable of going toe to toe with the Volts batsmen.
Bet on the Central Districts to win.
