CSK vs MI Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Apr 26, 2019

The Chennai Super Kings have qualified for the IPL playoffs once again after their win against the Sunrisers Hyderabad at home. They now have another two games at home to try and finish in the top-2 so that they get two chances of making it to the IPL finals. The Chennai Super Kings are unbeaten while playing at the Chepauk Stadium in IPL 2019 and it will be the Mumbai Indians who try and end that record in that match.

The Mumbai Indians managed to beat Chennai Super Kings the first time these two teams met this year. That match was played on a fast, bouncy, wicket something very different to what they will get in this match.

The Mumbai Indians are currently on the third spot in the IPL League table and in an excellent position to qualify for the IPL playoffs. They can afford to lose this game and still get through but they would love to win and ensure that they don’t fall behind Delhi to grab a top-2 position as well.

CSK vs MI Team Previews

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings have been unbeaten at the Chepauk this year. They have won five out of their five matches and their last win against the SUnrisers may have been their most impressive one yet. Chennai had to chase down a total of 176, a difficult task at Chepauk, and they did it with ease.

Shane Watson has been struggling for runs but he scored the runs when it mattered. His inning of 96 included six sixes and nine fours. Now, Chennai has one less batsman to worry about. We still believe that the Chennai batting is a little weak.

Faf du Plessis has started to slow down after a great start, Shane Watson has played just one inning of note, and the middle order of Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayadu, and Kedar Jadhav is in poor form as well. MS Dhoni has been very good with the bat but a good bowling side can definitely exploit this batting weakness of the Chennai Super Kings.

The bowling for Chennai has been superb this year. Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Dwayne Bravo, and Ravindra Jadeja are all very good. The three spinners dominate the opposition on the slow Chepauk surface and ensure that there are no easy overs for the batsmen.

Deepak Chahar has been effective with the new ball and has been taking wickets regularly. We don’t think Dwayne Bravo is back to being his best with the old ball but he is always a threat as well.

The only thing we can see Chennai worry about is complacency. They have qualified for the IPL playoffs and a drop in intensity could be something that affects their performance.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians have had a few days break and should come into this match feeling refreshed. They lost their previous match to the Rajasthan Royals and have some issue to deal with ahead of this match. Chennai is a pitch where the spinners will play a big role and that has not been the strength of the Mumbai side.

Players like Quinton de Kock, Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, and Ben Cutting all like the ball coming on to the bat. Hardik Pandya is perhaps the one player that can attack the spinners from the first delivery he faces.

Even someone like Suryakumar Yadav who usually plays spin very well is not in good form for the Mumbai Indians. One of the senior player, preferably Rohit Sharma, will have to take the responsibility of leading from the front.

The Mumbai Indians could also learn from the attacking manner in which David Warner and Manish Pandey attacked the Chennai spinners in the previous match. That was the only time in the tournament where the Chennai Super Kings bowling looked vulnerable.

Mumbai Indians have a good bowling attack themselves. They have added Beuran Hendricks to their squad but we don’t think he is going to get a game just yet. Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, and Ben Cutting were the bowlers picked for the previous game.

Rahul Chahar has been very good and is going to be seen as one of the main strike weapons for Rohit Sharma in this match. If Chahar and Krunal can have a good bowling performance in this match then Mumbai is going to go a long way towards winning this match.

CSK vs MI Toss Prediction

The team winning the toss is likely to want to bat second. Bowling can be quite tough if the dew is heavy and the chasing side can end up having a pretty big advantage.

Pitch and Conditions

The Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2019 match is going to be played at the MS Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. A hot and humid day is expected on match day and we could see a lot of dew on the ground.

The pitch at Chennai has been one of the lowest scoring in this entire tournament. We believe that the previous high-scoring game was out of character and we could return to a low-scoring contest in this match.

A score of around 150 is par for the venue.

CSK vs MI Dream11 Prediction

The Dream 11 team for the Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians IPL 2019 match is spin-heavy keeping the conditions in mind. Remember, winning at Dream11 consistently requires making last minute changes to the side after the pitch report and the toss. You can follow us on twitter, @cricketbettings, to get the latest updated Dream11 picks after the toss has taken place.

Wicketkeeper: MS Dhoni and Quinton de Kock are the two options in this category. MS Dhoni has been a risky pick this year. He comes in to bat later down the order and sometimes does not get a chance to bat but has done well when he has got the opportunities. We have picked Quinton de Kock since he opens the batting and is guaranteed a chance of making the most impact.

Batsmen: We have picked Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Faf du Plessis as our three batsmen for this match. The surface at the MS Chidambaram Stadium takes a lot of spin and makes run-scoring difficult for the batsmen. We are hopeful that the spinners will have more impact and score more points in this match.

All-rounders: We have picked Ravindra Jadeja and Krunal Pandya for this match. Both the left-arm spinners can bat pretty well and are going to have a major role to play with the ball.

Bowlers: We have picked the maximum allowed five bowlers in our side. That means we have room for Jasprit Bumrah, Rahul Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, and Deepak Chahar. All the three spinners we have picked have been excellent wicket-takers this year while the two fast bowlers bowl when the batsmen are trying to attack them and thus have a good chance of picking up wickets as well.

Captain and Vice-Captain: We have picked Imran Tahir and Rahul Chahar as Captain and Vice-Captain of our Dream 11 team.

CSK vs MI Betting Tips

Chennai Super Kings have lost four out of the last five matches they have played against the Mumbai Indians including the most recent one. There is no doubt that Chennai will come to this game as the favorites to win. They are playing at home in conditions which they love. They are also in excellent form and on top of the IPL 2019 league table.

Mumbai is also in good form but we believe it is not suited to perform at its best in spin-friendly conditions.

Bet on the Chennai Super Kings to win.
