CSK vs SRH Match Prediction & Betting Tips - May 13, 2018

With Chennai's recent loss to Rajasthan Royals, the race to the top-four has suddenly come alive. Not unlike Kings XI Punjab, a long break in the middle of the tournament didn't help Chennai Super Kings as well. Unless something dramatic happens in the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League, CSK should consider them safe to qualify for the playoffs. However, they'd love to be on the safer side and get their eighth win of the tournament as soon as possible. Up against them next are Sunrisers Hyderabad as we move to Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune. The match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am GMT and considering the fact that these two teams have conquered the table for the most part of this year's IPL, it is expected to be nothing short of the clash of the Titans.

CSK vs SRH Team Previews

Chennai Super Kings

Chennai Super Kings love to make things interesting. Don't they? It has been their trademark to take the games to the last over of the innings and now they're well on their way to do it with the playoff spot as well. CSK thumped the Royals when they met for the first time in this year's IPL and the Rajasthan Royals returned the favor as they just edged Chennai in a last-wicket victory on Friday.

It was a good toss to win for MS Dhoni as the track got difficult to bat on as the game progressed. Although Ambati Rayudu could not score big, his short innings was instrumental in providing CSK a quick start. A brilliant fifty by Suresh Raina coupled with another swashbuckling knock by MSD propelled CSK to a par-plus total.

Chennai Super Kings needed Rajasthan Royals to not to get off to the flying start, but some innovative thinking by Jos Buttler forced Dhoni to use his spinners early in their innings. Harbhajan Singh dislodged Ben Stokes, but he gave away as many as 29 runs in his two overs.

Chennai Super Kings have gone for plenty in the death overs and same was the case against Rajasthan Royals as well. After Royals got off to a flying start, CSK did well to pull things back in the middle overs. However, with 47 required off 4 overs and Dwayne Bravo having two overs up his sleeve, the game was hanging in balance. K Gowtham managed to get under the ball twice in David Willey's 19th over which turned the game in RR's favor.

Despite having so many elder statesmen in the team, Chennai is doing pretty well in the field. Their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad is one of their toughest matches in the season and they'd need to bring out their best game and seal a playoff spot on Sunday.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Who would have imagined about Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowlers conceding in excess of 70 runs in death overs? With a stellar bowling attack, which had conceded the least by any team in the tournament prior to the last game, were thwarted to all parts of the ground by Rishabh Pant.

Despite the hammering their bowlers received by Rishabh Pant in their last game, the Sunrisers Hyderabad shouldn't be too concerned about it. For one, it could be an eye-opener for their bowlers before the playoffs. Secondly, they'd be delighted to see Shikhar Dhawan coming back to form.

After having a decent start to the tournament, Shikhar Dhawan lost the touch after he sustained a blow to his elbow against Kings XI Punjab and this innings before the playoffs will certainly instill a lot of confidence going into the business-end of the tournament. Manish Pandey's poor run of form will concern team management and will want him to come well before the playoffs.

Despite the hammering their bowlers received on Thursday, SRH are still one of the complete sides of the tournament. With the likes of Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Siddharth Kaul, their bowling is arguably the best in the competition and with Shikhar Dhawan back in form and Williamson among the top five scorers in the tournament with Pandey, Pathan, and Shakib to follow, they certainly have the firepower in the batting as well.

Pitch and Conditions

It's a day game and as the weather forecast is mostly sunny, it is expected to be piping hot. It was a two-paced wicket in the last match between CSK and RCB where batting was a little difficult. We expect it to be a better batting surface as compared to the last time. With short boundaries on one side, a total in the range of 160 will be a par score on this wicket.

CSK vs SRH Betting Tips

Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost just two games out of the 11 they've played and one of those was against Chennai Super Kings.
