Cape Town Blitz is at the top of the league table in the Mzansi Super League at the moment and would already be planning for the playoffs. Before that, though, there is the small matter of playing out its remaining league games.
Cape Town Blitz will be taking on the Paarl Rocks in this match. It is much more important for Paarl Rocks to win this game as they are locked in a fight to make the playoffs. That is not to suggest that Cape Town Blitz does not need to win this match, far from it. It is very important for all sides to continue to build momentum and in some cases re-integrate the players that have joined the MSL to find their best elevens once again.
Quinton de Kock has been brilliant for Cape Town Blitz this season. He started off with a few cameos and then went on a typical run-scoring spree. He is really one person that can make the most of his good form.
His partnership at the top with Jannemann Malan has been very profitable for Cape Town Blitz. Now, Dawid Malan, Farhaan Behardien, Asif Ali, and Andile Phehlukwayo are all a part of the side to provide some real batting depth to the Blitz.
It will be interesting to see whether Cape Town Blitz persists with Dawid Malan at the top of the order or give Asif Ali a chance. Asif Ali has already played a match winning inning for his side and needs some time at the top to be able to unleash his big hits.
Farhaan Behardien has been the disappointment of this side in our opinion. He is a giant of the domestic game in South Africa but has not been able to find a place where his talents are utilized. He either seems to bat too deep to be of any real use or has failed to convert his chances when he has got them.
The experiment of sending Phehlukwayo up the order to try and play some big hits also seems to have been shelved thankfully.
The star of the bowling attack has been Dale Steyn. Never count a champion out, it is said, and Dalke Steyn is proving that adage right. He has bowled with fire, accuracy, and extracted any movement of the pitch.
His return to top-flight cricket at the height of his powers has to be one of the most remarkable comeback stories in cricket. With Siboto, Phehlukwayo, and Mohammad Nawaz for support, Cape Town Blitz has some very good bowlers in its side as well.
Quinton de Kock, Janneman Malan, Dawid Malan, Farhaan Behardien, Asif Ali, Mohammad Nawaz, Andile Phehlukwayo, Ferisco Adams, DW Steyn, MP Siboto, Nandre Burger.
Paarl Rocks lost their last match against the Tshwane Spartans on a difficult Centurion pitch. There was plenty of help for the spinners which resulted in a low scoring match being played out. The majority of the runs were scored by Faf du Plessis, Dwayne Bravo, and cameos from a few other players helped out too.
That loss does nothing to dispel the notion that Paarl Rocks are entirely too dependent on Markram and du Plessis for their runs. Both the players have been in good form although both of them would have liked to have turned their starts into more significant scores.
Still, the batting might of the Paarl Rocks is questionable when either of these two players is not at the crease. Cameron Delport, van Jaarsveld, and David Wiese are excellent players as well but they have not filled us with confidence with their performances.
The return of Dwayne Bravo adds depth to the batting and bowling resources of Paarl Rocks. He hit three sixes in his return to the side and bowled four economical overs as well. He adds a lot of quality to any T20 side and it is easy to see why he is so highly rated.
The bowling for the Paarl Rocks is a little suspect. Dwayne Bravo will take care of the death bowling and Tabraiz Shamsi is an excellent spinner but there is a lack of quality that can hurt the Rocks.
Fortuin has been very good in the powerplay overs at taking wickets and keeping the runs down. If he can get Quinton de Kock early then a lot of the work will be done for Paarl Rocks.
Aiden Markram, C Delport, Faf du Plessis, VBV Jaarsveld, Mangaliso Mosehle, Dwayne Bravo, D Wiese, Bjorn Fortuin, Dane Paterson, Tabraiz Shamsi, TL Moreki.
The side winning the toss is likely to want to bat first

A good day has been forecast for match day in terms of the weather. The chances of rain are very low and we should have a full uninterrupted game between two evenly matched sides. The pitch at Cape Town has been excellent for batting this tournament and that is exactly how we think things will continue to be.
A high scoring match should be in store especially now that the two sides are at full strength.
Paarl Rocks won the first encounter between the two sides earlier in the MSL. They desperately need to repeat that result if they are to stay in the hunt for the playoffs. We think they have a batting lineup that is stronger than the Blitz but their bowling looks dicey. Still, they should have enough in the tank to be able to win this match.
Back Paarl Rocks to win.
